You mention the ciliary hairs - so do you have bronchiectasis caused by cystic fibrosis? I just ask because there are some differences between CF and non-CF bronchiectasis.
Either way, I don't believe there is any link between Bx / CF and cystitis. Well, I suppose there is an indirect link: are you on prophylactic antibiotics? Some studies have suggested that you can end up with infections caused by resistant bugs that grow preferentially as other bugs are killed by the anti biotics. For instance, many people on prophylactic antibiotics get thrush. So the response would be to take natural yogurt / probiotic supplements or if it is a bacterial rather than yeast infection - change antibiotics
the second thing to beat in mind is that not all "cystiti"s is cystitis. it could be a yeast infection, it could be interstitial cystitis. The latter is not an infection but appears to be from an injury to the bladder, an immune problem, an allergic reaction or an issue with the pelvic floor muscles.
I think that you should really check this out: do you definitely have a bacterial infection? Do you have a yeast infection? The doctor can tell the difference with a urine test. If it's neither of these then there is a range of possibilities that a specialist urologist will need to check.
For your chest, then there's lots of good advice on these forums about keeping your chest clear. If you Google - chest heart stroke Scotland bronchiectasis - then the first result will take you to the CHSS pages on Bx and right down the bottom is a link to Related documents "Living with bronchiectasis (PDF)" . It's an excellent summary and includes some good tips on clearing your chest from p 35 onwards.
I hope this is of some help
Stay well

Clarithromicin is often good for many of the bugs that cause UTI but it all depends on what the bug is sensitive to. So even though you're taking it, it doesn't rule out a bacterial infection.
If the thrush treatment hasn't worked it suggest that is not the problem.
I'm afraid you definitely need to see the doctor on return. However in the meantime, you can't do much better than using the old fashioned remedies: drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Cranberry juice for bladder / UTI infections has been demonstrated to really be effective.
Good luck Suzanne!
