Brown Semen

I would like to address a situation that has recently caused much concern to me but not to my MD. That being brown semen. I had a TUMT procedure back in January of this year and a total of three retention eppisodes (one right after the procedure) requiring a Foley Cath. I have also had two biopsies so I can only imagine the condition of my prostate. Has anyone on this blog had a similar problem? I am hoping for an eventual healing and normal ejaculate.

Hello James.  Over the last few months you have had alot of trauma in that area.  There is most likley alot of dry blood.  I remember when I was 47 had a biopsies on my prostate.  The fir time I ejaculated there was alot of blood and I think it took about 2 weeks to clear up.  A few weeks ago I had a uro-lift done and the the first few time I had a ejaculate there was a brown red color in it  It is clear now.  I would wait a few more weeks and if it had not changes I would talk to my urologist.  And if he does not do anything I would fine another on.  I forgot to ask are you in any pain at all. Thanks for the input. No pain at all. The MD I refer to is a Urologist. Not at all happy with this Doc and am considering another. Been seeing him for about eight years and believe him to be just to busy. The TUMT procedure  was not a good experience for me but felt it less likly than TURP to cause other problems.

      Hello James,

It is probably difficult for many men to realize just how sensitive to trauma we are in that area and how long it takes to heal.

Not unnaturally after procedure(s) and for the sake of their peace of mind,  most would want to check out the patency of their equipment.  But in doing so within an too early time-frame it is quite probable that healing is interrupted thereby.

Minute intermittent bleeds will show up as brown in tainted semen and will eventually clear up. Only a copious amount of red I. E. fresh blood,  would be of concern which is why your Urologist is un excited about what seems to you,  a big deal.

Allowing time to effect it's own remedy is the way to go,  not changing your Uro.  Because thinking rationally,  what's the new boy going to do ?   If he does not get  invasively stuck into you then despite his newness,  he will effectively have done nothing.  And if he does get stuck into you then whatever he does is going to set you back again by reason of another trauma and recovery period.

Pain-free and no infections is good.

Obviously you have not completely healed yet,   so perhaps a period of two to three months without any vigorous stimulation might just allow the whole area to heal properly?

Yeah James,  just give yourself a chance.  You're not going to lose it.

      Regards

      Dudley

James I would get another doctor.  I love mine  I trust him very much.  He is very busy but all ways fines the time to see his patients   See if you can get a urolift  Mine is working good.  Please don't let them talk you into a TURP or the larser.  That will cause more problem..  Some work but why take the risk  Ken

Hi James. No consolation but I had similar issues when I had a TURP operation 6 months ago. I had a blackout with a blocked urinary tract, I then had a catheter for 1 month. I have retrograde ejaculation with brown semen ( very little amount) and have erectyl dysfunction. I believe this is all as a result of taking Tamsulosin and Finisteride pills for 18 months prior to the operation and the TURP operation itself has resulted in all this side effects. I don't believe it will get any better for me but everyone is different and I hope you have better luck. All the very best Peter

All I can say is WOW, sure puts my complaint in perspective. I feel for you and pray for your improved function. I have been on Tamsulosin since last August and had hoped that the TUMT procedure would make everything right and get me off the drug. Otherwise I have no other disfunction.

      Thanks for sharing.

Ken again  Was on Tamsulosin for less then a month.  When the dry ejaculation started I said no way. It was noy working right anyway.Talk to my doctor and told him we have to fine something else.  I stop that and we tryed another pill The last one was Alfuzosin.  I was on 4 kinds in 5 months.  After 2 weeks started the same thing and other problem.  So i had the urolift done doing great  peeing good and on no more meds.  If a men is not interested in sex anymore have any surgery.  But if you still like to have sex do not have them talk you into a TURP of the LASER ONE Do not let your doctor cut anything from you prostate.ED is only 10% but Retrograde Ejaculation is 65% and all of the surgery the side effects are permanent.  I would not take that chance.   At 59 I still like to have a little fun  Take care and look up everything before you have it done...Ken

I am approaching 71 and my sex life is very important to me and I mean VERY. That is why I even considered TUMT. I guess I have been lucky that the only problem I have at the moment is brown semen. I have been told by my Doc to stay on the Tamsulosin ( do not like to take this ) and let time pass. I guess I have to let the poor gland rest a while longer.

      Thanks for your input.

You have to remember that when we get older our bodys to not heal as fast as when we were younger.  You have alot of things happen to your body. Your lucky that your still ejoying that part of your life.  Not all have been that lucky.  Doctor talk many men into other surgery and never look these up on the side effects and there sex life is gone.  I'm 59 and nothing works the way it use to but still works.  Take care and just let your body rest.  Enjoy it all  Ken

The erectile dysfunction can be cured with a penile implant, but it is possible that eventually the side effects of those awful drugs may go away . That said, it took me about 3 months to get over the side effects of 3 WEEKS of @$!#/& Finasteride!
