Mani, what you have is likely to be quite common. Specifically, the changes in colouration and brown spots are likely be quite normal. The only issue of concern would be if you are sexually active and do not use condoms?

What you need to work on is your penile hygiene to combat the smell issue you notice. So, unfortunately, yes the vast majority of the smell comes from stale urine. What you need to find is your own systemic way of dealing with what is happening for you when you go and urinate.

So, the starting point is to recognise that there is not off tap when we take a leak. Most men want to get in the toilet and get out of there as soon as possible, without clearly thinking about the essential is to completely empty the bladder and that all remnants of urine are fully drained. This is not always as easy as you would think, particularly if you are wearing tight fitting jeans. Start by making sure the foreskin is out of the way so that no urine can get onto it.

So empty first, then remove the drips, by shaking - and if you can, either wash with water, or if you are out of the house, get a little toilet tissue and wipe away any remnants of urine from around the tip of the penis.

What lots of men do is when they notice this smell issue is to start using lots of soap and shower gel to try to get rid of it. This is the wrong thing to do, as potentially, some of the spots you have on the head of your penis are obvious because of exposure to soap and shower gel. The balance is occasional soap, but more often just use water to clean the head area of your penis.

When you shower is an important time to get your penile hygiene right: take a pee first, take a shower - wash everywhere else on your body first with the head of your penis covered. Make sure to throughly rinse - then expose the head of your penis, you can use a little soap first, but, rely on the running water and the inside of your hand to wash the head and foreskin area of your penis. Every time you wash your penis it is just as important to throughly dry the head and foreskin area .......

Thanks Wee_Dugie for your detailed explanation this really helps.

I am still a Virgin but masturbate like 4 times a week and fail to wash it after, could this have created the spots??

I was not taking that much account of penile hygiene and from now will follow as u said, lately i have also been using soap in glans area during bathing.

One more concern i as far as i could recollect, there were few spots on the back of penis glans before, but now few more have came at the front, this scares me as i have searched in the internet and stated conditions like penile melanosis etc...this worries me a lot.

Do i need to consult a doctor, if suppose i am very hesitant on it.

Could you please help me with the above concerns. Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks for the thanks, I try to help as far as my understanding allows.

I forgot to ask whether or not you are a sporting person? Such as, you work up a sweat on a regular basis, this can be from running, active sports, football, rugby, cycling, and so on? Perhaps you do regular gym workouts where sweat builds up, or any combination of these activities? Sweat, particularly if it is drying on your penis, or on sports clothing you regularly wear can explain SOME of the marking you have.

No, masturbation could not have created the spots.

      .

Now to what you say: if you have not been sexually active that is the main concerns dealt with. So, let's take a look at what Melanosis is:

      .

" Penile melanosis is usually a benign or harmless condition. It’s characterized by small patches of dark skin on the penis. This change in color is known as hyperpigmentation, and it occurs when melanin (brown pigment) forms deposits in the surface layer of skin.

      .

Penile melanosis is also known as penile lentiginosis. The spots or lesions of darker skin can form on the head or shaft of the penis. The condition is normally harmless and doesn’t require treatment. It’s also not infectious.

What are the symptoms of penile melanosis?

      .

Other than the dark spots (also known as macules), there are no health symptoms associated with penile melanosis. The main signs are macules that are:

      .

      usually brown or black

      under a centimetre in length

present between the ages of 15 and 72, though they can appear at any age

painless and not likely to bleed or change over time

      .

Someone with this condition may have a single dark spot or many spots. "

      .

So, yes, this could explain part of what you have. Some of what you have is also likely to be the result of long-term exposure to soap and other forms of body cleanser, such as shower gel and suchlike.

However, I think the essential issue you likely have is achieving peace of mind as to what you have going on on the glans of your penis. The only specialists that can do this for you are either a Urologist, but better still, a Dermatologist that deals with Genital Skin Disorders.

So, you could either see your Regular / Family Doctor / GP first, or you can either go in person, or phone a Sexual Health Service / Center and ask you would get to see a Genital Skin Disorders Dermatologist.

If you live in the UK you can also go to a GUM Clinic at your local General Hospital and get them to check it for you. If a nurse examines you and states this 'is nothing to be concerned about' say you would prefer to hear it from a specialist as to what the explanation is so you can get peace of mind, or if it is an issue of concern, how it can be treated.

Please update when a medical professional has examined you, an whet they suggest ......

Thanks for ur reply.. and i am not into sports.

Also just yesterday i found a white reddish skin kind of a sore inside the urethral meatus when i open it up a little. And i have a slight tingly feeling now and then, and during urination there is no pain or irritation.

      Is this normal.

No, this is not normal - it suggests you either have an infection or something that is causing a problem for the skin in there.

So for example, when you masturbate if you apply something to your penis, such as skin cream or baby oil, or even a lube of some kind that can cause a problem for the meatus or urethra.

I have suggested you need to see a medical professional as I have detailed, you know have a further reason to do this - please update once you have done this .......

mani i hope thats nothing... how r u now ?

    hey Mani,

I am experiencing something similar to you. Oddly in the exact same places. I was told by a Dermatologist that they are kind of like freckles. For some reason the lack of an exact diagnosis has caused me to continue to have anxiety about the spot, however mine have now been here for years with no real change. probably benign, just scary

I have same spot.... What happened to your condition is it normal?

  • Posted

yes that is normal. it is just discoloration. Most adults get this because of unhygiene like don't wash foreskin after masturbating or using underwear more than a day... generally when we amateur we dont used to take care that much.. and when we do then we do too much...😄

so don't focus on it I have it too.
