Hi. After having sexual intercourse I noticed my glans was a little sore which i assumed was down to friction. Later I got a few brown spots in the same area and what may be a rash Which causes me no issue or discomfort. I have the same sex partner and pretty sure it is not an STD. Been like this for a few weeks .any ideas what it may be?

Thanks

This may be related to, or totally unrelated to to the sex you had. Presuming the sex was unprotected the most common issues are fungal / yeast infection if you had penetrative vaginal, or bacterial infection if you had unprotected anal sex

If the brown spots do not fade in the next 2 to 3 weeks you may be best to see a Dermatologist, or at least contact a GP / Family Doctor

Thanks for the reply. Do you know is there anything I can apply to it in the meantime?

Depends on the cause - often a doctor or sexual health specialist will simply prescribe based on the most likely thing to have caused this - so depends whether you are doing vaginal or anal or both.

Your sex partner may have a slight infection that has caused this - simple non-STD related infections such as a yeast infection are extremely common in women for example.

On the other hand this actually may be a skin issue - this is why when you see a medical professional they will ask questions relating to relevant history.

Are you a particularly active person, such as doing sports, training on a regular basis or gym workouts? - something as simple as the regular presence of sweat on penile skin can cause issues like this.

it's a bit of both and I wouldn't say I am very active. most of the time I am sitting due to my job but that can lead to sweating too. Is there anything you recommend that I can apply before I see the GP? thanks

What you apply depends on what has caused this - otherwise you risk making it worse - at this point we do not know the cause.

You need professional medical advice to determine how to treat, or even, what initially to apply: often, even for a GP, it is a case of trying the most likely thing, if that does not sort it within a given time-frame then they will try something else, as so-on ....

It is likely that this will take an extended period of months to fully resolve, the sooner you try prescribed medications the sooner you will find the one that resolves this.

You may actually need to see a Dermatologist, or perhaps if you can get a phone consultation with one you could also supply the photos to them.

Other sources of medical help I would suggest are the main Sexual Health Service for your area or region, or if you are in the UK, a GUM Clinic at a major general hospital or city centre site
