Bruising!!

Wondered if anyone else has the same. My clitoris feels tender to touch and at times becomes itchy ( this is where my symptoms started with intense itching). But  now I have noticed it looks purple as if its bruised. Is this normal ( well normal for LS sufferers!)

Yes definitely Raw50 this is where mine started as well, although it was like a tickle, unbeknown to me I put canisten on thinking it was thrush at the time.  Mine was purple and felt hard as well but I did put clob on a small amount and this now back to pink at the moment.  Don't know if it becomes more exposed with atrophy and so seems to get rubbed on clothing?  X

Thanks for your reply sue162. mine is the same, it feels hard and bruised but other times it seems back to normal and I give a sigh of relief, next time I look it's purple again. Never been so obsessed with my bits and not in a good way!!!😫Maybe I haven't been using steroid cream long enough, only about 4 weeks. Gynaecologist said every day for 6 weeks then every other day and I don't think it's a strong dose.

I know Raw50 gets you down doesn't it.  I check there every day it becomes an obsession, never used to before all this.   Mines took quite a few months to not be purple it also looked bigger as well. I know TMI but it's true it now seems smaller, you need to Moisturise as well though using something like Yes or anything that agrees with you as well as your ointment you use.  Hope your itching is easing,

Thanks sue. Your right I think we're all the same we never look until something is bothering us. I like to use coconut oil to moisturise, I also find it helps with itching and wash with hydromol. Hope you continue to feel well.

Yes, same problem, same colour. Looks inflamed and sore to touch. Although I have had LS for over 30 years I have only had the itch lower down, not near the urethra opening or clitoris. About a year ago though I started to feel sore though all over. The thing about that is that I stopped using the steroid cream and used Desitin only for the past year. Desitin does bring relief but it takes a bit longer for the itch to stop and I think cutting out the steroid cream after 30 years was the reason I started to feel sore. I would rather not use it though unless I absolutely have to. The mixture I am using now is working like a dream and I don't have to use the steroid cream at all. 4 Tablespoons of Organic Castor Oil, 1 DROP of Lemon Grass Essence Oil, 2 DROPS of Lavender Essence Oil. Don't exceed the drops and I use a small dropper. I am going to buy some Australian Dream Cream as well.

So interesting to hear that you have had LS for over 30 years - my consultants (I have LS/LP in various places and have to see a different specialist for each location!) all say it will probably burn itself out.  Absolutely rot - they really don't have the faintest idea about LS or LP and it's about time they admitted it.

I'm sceptical how many of us get told we have thrush years ago when we don't.  I asked my gp before being referred is it LS and she said she had never heard of it mmmm.

Well, I am living proof that it doesn't burn out!! I regret very much that I didn't think of looking at a forum like this years ago as I think I could have managed it much better if I had. This is the first time in 30 years that I have had so much relief with the Castor oil mixture that I am using and it is all thanks to this forum.

Yes...the purple color is normal for those with LS. Not a very pretty sight.

Thanks for replying everyone. It's great to be able to get answers on this forum when our Drs let us down with their lack of knowledge and sometimes even interest!

Absolutely agree, so my thanks to everyone too for your support.

One of my consultants was quite open about the fact that there wasn't enough money in researching/medications for LS so far as drug companies are concerned - hence the lack of treatment.  Everything in this world comes back to power and money.  We'll just have to keep helping each other.

It's so comforting to be able to discuss our problems with one another. For the first time in many, many years I feel as if I am not alone anymore. I didn't know other woman had the same problem as I have never discussed it with anyone before... only my gynie and husband know how much I have had to put up with all these years! My husband needs a medal.

I haven't looked at my clitoris while it was itching and don't know what color it may have been.  But recognize the irritation in that area.  Are you using a steroid cream?

I've been given betnovate, been using it for 5 weeks now, it still feels a little sensitive but the colour seems to change every time I look. I think it looks ok then next time I look everything is red and inflamed again and clitoris is purple. And I'm sure it's more sore now than it was before I started using the cream. It's driving me insane.

It is possible that you are very sensitive to this cream.  I myself needed to look for alternatives.  At first the clobetasol ointment (there is a difference between cream and ointment)  I was using was relatively okay and did the job.  What  I didn't know was that when you use too much at once it does more harm than good.  I learned the hard way.

?I very gradually weaned myself off the clobetasol and now use it only occasionally, when all else fails.  What the else is:  baking soda or borax baths and rinses.  So far so good.

Forgot to mention the coconut oil for moisturizing.
