Buckling left knee when running

I have been experiencing buckling of my left knee that only ever occurs when i run, i only get to about half a km every time and my knee just gives way underneath me and feels like i have sprained it. i went to my doctors who prescribed me with naproxen and sent me for an xray. the result was wear and tear. However, unhappy with the answers from thr doctor i went to see a Chiropractor who did various tests on me, including a pin prick on both legs which felt sharper on the right leg than the left, and also advised me i have lost 5cm of muscle mass on my left leg. He has told me its not my knee, but a prolapsed lumbar disc with nerve root compromise. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Only i wouldnt say i have back pain. Is it worth getting a third opinion?

I know a friend who had a knee problem and it turned out it was their back.

Ive been considering whether or not to go through with the treatment he is offering me in two weeks time,he told me to reign in the exercise i do and take it gently,i have also spoke weirdly enough to my boyfirends brother who broke his lower vertebrae in december, he is nearly fully recovered but says his left knee sometimes buckles too, i dont feel any pain in my knee when i walk, just running. The chirporator described it as the nerve not giving a signal to the brain.

I think your body tells you when you should stop. Have you got the opportunity of being referred to a medical specialist for a diagnosis?
