Bulging discs and nothing is working to help the pain!

I have 3 bulging discs. I am on gabapentin 4 tablets 3 times a day and at physio. The pain has moved and is now going down my right leg to my ankle and can't get any relief especially in a night time. My GP has referred me to a neuro surgeon (I think that's what they are called) and waiting for an appointment. Has any one had this and can reccomend anything that can help . Will an injection help ? I have a newborn baby and feel I can't enjoy my time off with him: -( really getting me down now

Try moist heat on and off all day. Use a Hydroculator & get 2 so you switch without waiting.

Look into a TENS unit - ask your Dr about getting you one

Stretch as much as you can Lay in bed and bring knees to chest. Stretch any way you can but not to the point that back pain is worse.

See a Chiropractor but not for manipulating- therapy only like massage heat muscle stim ultra sound will all help

I know how you feel I've had TEN operations and I'm only worse

    Good luck

Hi I have 3 herniated discs confirmed by benidorm hospital 4 years ago although I suspect I have had these since 2004. Since

Before going to benidorm I had a wedge inserted that popped out almost immediately. Then I had a private cortisone injection which cost me a thousand. I personally had really bad treatment I was told I was putting on the pain, told to do exercises which I did anyway as I do yoga. Does it help...well yes it does but the only one that helps is sitting with my head between my knees which is not really the done thing in Valencia!!

I have had most things as meds.the only thing that has helped me are cortisone injections but they could be stronger but any more you are inclined to damage the bones but hell I am 72 and taking bone medication. I have had some horrible experiences which to ve honest never goes away .

Well in 2010 I had go go private again and asked Mr Shackleton to do a decompression on L3\4 and L4/5 although afterwards they had no idea which level!!! Almost immediately I had the pain from hell. I went back to him and he said oh it will go eventually...he also took out the wedge too.

I think I have some really inexperienced people muck around with me and these people were recommended although not everyone is the same. What have I done...well I have had a brace for my back, an electronic pain reliever, pain cream volerol, pills pazital because I couldn't take 100% tramadol and lyrica which is like gabapentin

Having had a terrible interview with a surgeon in valencia...he was so horrible about us not speaking Spanish but we assumed he spoke English which he did, all surgeons speak English. I had 10 minutes and he said that an old would be dangerous and I had go think about it and I was referred to my hospital where for the last year and a bit I have had cortisone injections which are OK, sometimes they work sometimes not. So tomorrow I done expect great things as the phone rang and I answered it no on spoke Spanish but whoever it was spoke to another person and as its Spanish holidays this weekend just guess that something is wrong. So we Weill see. That is my position at the moment do I carry on for the rest if my life with injections every 3 months and painkillers????? Do I go bacj

Do I go back to mthe surgeon and say yes I want the op. I dont know. I could have a microdisectomy. But then they dont look at MRIs but x rays and feel there is something somewhere that just isn't fight.wish me !uck for tomorrow

I was in an accident back in January and it cause me to have 3 bulging disc and a tear on my spine along with inflammation. I just recently had my second round of injections and it wasn't effective just caused more pain and discomfort while standing, sitting, laying down. I live at the chiropractor 2 to 3 times a week doing acupuncture and electro therapy some relief but only temporary. The pain is to the point where its affecting my work also. But I would recommend injections first round only lasted for 2 weeks then back to square one second round it worsened.

    Hi

I went to see a neurosurgeon today. I have 3 prolapsed disc's in my neck and one in my lower back. For twelve years have been in chronic pain, severe burning neck and shoulders. Hand and arm numbness, electric shock feeling, leg numbness, cracking and popping neck. I was told still no surgery as the nerves are not compromised enough!
