Bunion surgery 18 weeks ago

Hi everyone! I’m new. I had bunion surgery on my right foot 18 weeks ago. Now I have 9 screws and a plate. I’m also a runner and I just started to try to start running. I’m only doing one mile on intervals of 30 secs jogging and walking 1 min. Only this creates pain on my arch after I finished. If I massage the area gets a lot better. I’m a marathoner so one mile is not much for me. Is this normal? More time or is there something wrong? Just continue doing what I’m doing and eventually will get better? Running is my passion and waiting this long is very hard for me. Any suggestions will be really appreciate it.  Thanks in advance!

I was the same as you , thought I would never be able to exercise or even walk the dogs I had as the pain was excruciating, I would say for me, I had a turning point at about 6 months, when I could walk and exercise without the pain. I play netball once a week too and the only issue I have is the fused toe where it is painful the next day, but clears after 2 days. Take it easy, be patient and dont overdo the exercise, you will get there x

I've been told the healing time can be about a year.

I had bunion, toes realigned and plates put into my instep. My healing could take 18 months. There are days I'm happy to hobble. Be patient and find other things to fill your time or you will be miserable.
