Bunion surgery

I am 2 weeks into recovery from major bunion surgery on left foot. I am getting around when necessary with one of those heel load bearing boots. The trouble is that because that foot is so elevated I walk lob sided, this in turn is giving me back ache. Any suggestions to help with the small amount of walking I am doing. Should I use a crutch or stick or do I have to put up with it? Help please I don’t  want to cure one thing to end up with a back out of kilter. Thanks

    Hi Barbara

I wore a low block-heel ankle boot to balance myself. It was not a perfect solution, but it helped to minimise the aches and pains from walking lopsided.

    Best wishes

The trouble is all my shoes are flat - comes from having bunions for years! I don’t want to go and buy shoes with heels just for this!
