Bunion surgery, help please

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi, i have had lots of surgery on mu left foot over the past few years, inc hallux rigious surgery, neuroma removal, tension release, fusion amd then removal of metal work. Since then my right foot became painful. I had an MRI which confirmed a bunion, arthitus and a hole in the cartilage. My consultant has said he could remove the bunion but this could cause the arthitis to get worse. Which would leave me having a fusion, which i am not doing after all the problems i had with the left foot. Has anyone had similar diagnosis or issues?

    HI

Not me personally but i have read a lot about foot problem after surgery.

I'm dealing with recovery is well. There is a group on facebook called I survived a bunionectomy I'm a member too, you may find helpful answers there.

I'm sorry you are dealing with these.

I had two toes realigned, a bunion reduction and arch fusion. all went well and its much better. However I'm due to have the same on the other foot but I'm very nervous. The foot has already had some surgery. I let a podiatrist surgeon fix a dislocated toe. (Big mistake). so I'm not sure the second operation will be as straight forward or as successful.

When you know what you are in for or what might happen it is very daunting.

I suppose you just have to pay your money and make a choice. Thankfully in the UK we don't pay.

    good luck with your choice.

p.s. All my metal work is going to be left in place.

I am in the UK too. The bunion pain is horrible but i don't want to make the arthitis worse. So confused as to what to do. Good luck with yours.

    Hi Joanne

Id got to the stage with the bunion ment I couldn't drive for more than 30minutes. It was bad enough walking in pain but not being able to drive was the last straw.

I can drive now for as long as I like. it's just a shame that when I get to my destination I can't get out of the car. lol

Well I'll have to see what surgeon says.
