Burch Colposuspension

Hi,

I'm 8 days post op after Burch colposuspension surgery. I had tried everything and this, i felt, was my last option. The surgeon was satisfied that everything had gone well, only time will tell. I had open surgery as keyhole is not yet available in my area.  I have an 18cm, very neat, bikini line incision that appears to be healing well.

I am still in a lot of pain and extreme discomfort but I keep reminding myself that I have had MAJOR surgery and only just over a week ago.

I have had a few sneezy episodes and, so far so good, no leaking😁👍🏻🙏🏻 Going for a wee takes a bit longer than usual but I was warned about that. It should steadily improve.

My GP has signed me off work for 3 months as I have a very demanding, active and physical job, work have been really supportive too.

Would really like to hear other people's experiences and, hopefully, success stories!

      hi Rowena,

Having the Burch Colposuspension surgery was a difficult decision but I'm so glad I had it!

It was a much bigger procedure than i had anticipated, are you able to have Keyhole surgery, I hear the recovery is much quicker??

I ended up being off for 4 months as my Dr wouldnt sign me fit for work but to be honest Im pleased he did as I was still healing.

I went for my post op a couple of weeks ago, they were really pleased with everything, as am I. I no longer have to "sneeze & squeeze" no leaking laughter and I have even managed to join in with the kids during PE .

I am still suffering with an overactive bladder but i knew this op wouldnt help that, just the leaking ( for want of a nicer word!)

Hope this helps reassure you a bit, if you have any questions dont hesitate to contact me x

      Good Luck
