Donna, I've only had RA for 3 years, but I had an incident around Christmas with my left hand and wrist. I woke up in the night and felt like my hand was on fire. I could not get comfortable or sleep. I got up and put ice on my hand. That seemed to help. By morning, I was better, but I had never experienced such pain. I haven't seen my RA doc since that happened but will tell him about it when I see him this Wed.

Im new. It all started November 2014. I was diagnosed February. My hands and feet burn. Not the joints the whole area but normal to touch. Cold water helps. Keeps me up most nights. X

Are you talking about joints, here? Or some other kind of burning?

    Skin? Palms?

RA is about inflammation of the joints, which feels, of course, like a form of burning. But as far as I know it's only centred on the joints.

    Could this be peripheral neuropathy?

I have feet that burn. But they burn only on the soles and only in hot temperatures. I spend a lot of my time in the tropics and when the temperature goes above 30C degrees, the soles being to burn and they burn worse at night, when they're resting

I always use a cold footbath before sleep.

Peripheral neuropathy can do a whole range of things, including tingling and numbness, and at one time I had my skin around my neck and shoulders burning so badly as if I had extreme sunburn. It didn't feel hot to the touch, but from inside it felt like it was on fire.

Could this be what's happening to you?
