Burning and Dripping sensations

Hello,

I've been looking for an online forum/discussion about back pain and back injuries and glad I found this.

About 10 months ago I injured my Thoracic back with 2 disk protrusions, 1 extrusion, and 3 budges. After almost a year of two epidurals, lots of PT, core strengthening, and daily cryotherapy being mindful of how I stand, bend or twist,  I am still having back pain. Not disabling or nearly as bad as the day I injured it, but still moderate.

I've had lumbar disk bulges many years ago, which cause some sciatic pain if I do specific things, but my thoracic back pain seems to have it's own agenda, which it has not shared with me.

The strangest pain is the burning sensation across the mid/upper back. I can only describe it as feeling hot.  Does anyone else get this? What is it?  I always get relief from laying on / sitting against a large medical ice/gel pack. Maybe that just superficial relief, but it stops the burn. Anyone understand that?

Sometimes, I even experience that I can only describe as the sensation of water dripping down my back. It only last a couple seconds. I actually check to see if something is leaking on my shirt from the ceiling or sky.  It would help to know if anyone else get that sensation?

Hope I haven't written to much for my first posting.

Thanks all

Stephen cool

Ye I totally get what your saying, I had a l4/5 fusion 14 years ago and had this horrendous burning pain in between my shoulder blades from the onset but was told it was because my upper back has to bare more weight now, 7 years later and I was crippled with daily pain so went for a scan which discovered a thoracic arachnoid cyst, I to use ice packs for relief, I also constantly think I have something crawling on me and it's getting worse, I think it has something to do with nereve damage, I also get chronic rhomboid and trapezius muscle spasms the last bout lasting 4 months, to say I was going crazy is an understatement.

Iv heard the thoracic spine is harder to recover from if operated on so I would avoid any type of surgery if you can as I think living with what you've got could be easier than life after surgery, sadly.

    Have you tried acupuncture?

Peppermint oil(this can help block painsignals)

    Magnesium

    Vit d3 (docs advice)

    B vitamins...12, complex

Just a few suggestions to look into.

Good luck I hope you find something that helps 😊
