Burning eyes/tear ducts.

I've noticed since being on Prednisone if I rub the corners of my eyes, however lightly or briefly, I get an intense burning sensation. The burning does not subside until I flush them with water, anybody else experienced this?

Yes I had this although it did improve. My GP gave me eye gel which did not really work I then got an atomiser spray which was a lot better. I believe it is a side effect of pred.

Yes I do have the burning sensation. I avoid rubbing them, and just put a little light pressure on them if I need to. I did not know water would help.

Yes - probably due to dry eyes. You can get liposome spray which I found helped even if it is expensive  - ask the chemist or an optician. Or you can get artificial tears on prescription in the UK.

Yes I have had dry eye for a number of years for which I found water the best cure but the burning sensation I mentioned is quite different and localised to the tear ducts only.

Yes, I do.  But I did before PMR so not sure they are related.  I use eye drops each morning.  Its worse of course when we have to put the heat on in winter but is all year round for me.

A Doctor once told me not to bother with drops for dry eye, he said the best was simple cool water. I've been using it for years now with an eye glass and I have to say he wasn't telling fibs. Also good for the burning eyes I get

Depends what it is - if it is due to an autoimmune process and you aren't making proper tears cool water won't do the job. You need tears of a particular consistency to keep the surface of the eye healthy - if the tear ducts aren't producing them they are likely to get sore too. I'd ask an optometrist about it as a start since they are easy to access.
