I had bunion surgery 3 and a half weeks ago . I had a plate and screws put in . My big toe has a very uncomfortable burning sensation , feels like it’s on fire . It happen throughout the day but worse at night where I lose sleep. How long does it take 4 the nerve to heal and the burning 2 go away .

I had that also for quite a while.  Maybe the nerves repairing themselves.  It was uncomfortable.  I am now 8 months and have not had that feeling since about June so I would say expect it to dwindle over a couple of months.  If its actually hot and there are other symptoms get it checked.

I've felt that way. I can't wait to see my wound, it will give me a deeper picture of what I'm into. It hurts, I feel like it has a pulse. I just want to heal & move on. I dragged this surgery out long enough.

Hi, I had Lapidus with plate, screws and bone graft one week ago.. the pain has been dreadful! Especially at night.  The only way I get a bit of relief is to have it elevated and also through night.  I had a joint replacement on my left foot 5 months ago and that was not as painful ! I could also weight bear with that after 3 weeks.

I struggle to get around on this foot and have been told no weight bearing at all until after the third X-ray.

my pain is a burning, stinging pain. I think it must be a nerve pain and a bone pain.

I had my surgery 9/5, not only bunion with plate but reconstruction of the big toe. I'm starting my 3rd week, remain non weight bearing, pain is less but I still have sutures. Burning is happening as well. I know he did xrays during surgery. Being a former RN all I can say is elevate & pain meds along with some ice. I have not had another xray but what I can say is I trust my surgeon, he's tops in ortho surgery, & he's a MD. I think most people don't research their doctors, there are many crappy ones. Good luck but if you need to chat reach out. All I'm doing is sitting with my foot elevated.

Hi, I hope you're doing much better. I had a bunionectomy with pins put in. 4 weeks ago I'm now experiencing a deep burning sensation on the underside of my foot from my big toe down about an inch or two that has just started. and I have. pin whole at the tip of my incision that has not healed and is infected.. Dale deep bruising along my incision. And some swelling on top of my foot. and I have been on a round of antibiotics for 2 weeks..
