Burning knee

I've done extremely well - am 3 weeks post op (LTKR) and am experiencing severe burning in my new knee. Full range if motion & extension but this burning is painful. Dr says its normal healing - nothing i take otc helps. I don't want to go back on opiods! Does anyone know how long this sensation lasts or tips to get rid of the burning?

All we can say is that it is normal but how long it lasts varies by individual. No one can give you a time frame. A good anti-inflammatory topical (after the incision is healed) is Voltaren Gel. It's RX in the US but generic diclofenac elsewhere...check for interactions. There's also OTC AsperCream 4% Lidiocaine. Be Zen: The sensation will go away when the sensation goes away. Until then, mitigate it as best you can...we've all been there...

Chico, have sine VOLTARIN but terribly afraid if that gets into my scar which is healed but brand spankin new. Talk about burning. Whew . You have to wash your hands really well after applying that and watch your eyes!

All so true. Gotta wait until that scar has healed well enough...but...you can use it judiciously on the back and sides of the knee away from the incision. Unfortunately, the absolute BEST topical is called simply "Lotion" but is only available in places like Colorado, Oregon, etc. My son lives in Denver..."Lotion" is FANTASTIC!!!

The pure concentrate of something we can't mention on the Forum added to your favorite hand lotion. Gives the lotion a light green tint and earthy scent. Works better than anything I've ever used.
