Burning mouth and tingling Perimenopause

Hi all

Well it's 2.52 am. All evening leading up to going to bed I've been suffering with acid in my mouth, tingling mouth and burning tongue and lips. Been in bed for 2 and a half hours. Can't sleep due to weird buzzing and burning gums and lips and tongue. Also loud tinnitus. Is this perimenopause? It's driving me insane. First night of this while in bed. It's driving me mad. Propped up in bed for the reflux and my mouth and lips are tingling and burning and dry. I hope this is only going to happen a few times whilst in bed. Has anyone else suffered this ?

Love to hear from you.

I've had that just this past week or so. It's finally calming down now . Less mouth burning and dryness today. Pretty sure its meno.related.

Hi Michelle yes just started with the burning and acid really vile. Chew sugar free gum it makes saliva and that helps. Also eating liquor ice after a meal or an apple also helps calm it down. I found long gaps between meals doesent help either. Hope some of these suggestions help you. Oops also drinking chamomile tea sorry forgot that as I can't stand the stuff.

    Hi Michelle,

I've had this now a few days kept me awake most of last night. Low grade headache as well.

I'm on HRT, I have had this before.

My lips are so dry they are peeling today and so thirsty.

I'm going to ask if I can try using a higher dose of estrogen next time I see a doctor.

Just hoping I don't get cystitis because the last few times I've been this dry and thirsty I've had to keep cystitis at bay with cranberry tablets and juice.

      Hi

What does of estrogen do you take ?

I've just started the patches this afternoon. Roughly how long do they take to get in the system? Weeks or days ? As long as they can take the edge off things

      Hi Michelle,

I use oestrogel and it's 2.5g each night.

The first night I used it I slept better than I had for 10 years this continued for another 7 nights.

Hot was gone within a few days feet stopped hurting. Vaginal dryness was quick to improve as well.
