Hi

I've been suffering from this for about 2 month.

At first I didn't know what it was till I googled my symptoms

I have a taste which at first was metallic it's now sometimes salty.

The roof of my mouth and tongue feels like i had scalded it like with a hot drink though I havnt

My mouth gets dry and it's worse then.

I take venlafaxine antidepressant, and I'm thinking is it this.

Do you suffer for this? And if so what's it symptoms or have you got rid off it.

I've been suffering with bms for about 18 months, couldn't find out what was causing it, We went on holiday to a small island,i had no problem with bms while i was there,we arrived back in the uk at about 7pm next morning by 10am my mouth was on fire.So we got a reverse osmosis water filter and I started feeling better,i changed my toothpaste to fluoride free, i feel great now. if i go out and eat and drink somewhere other than home and have a small flare up i take a Benadryl and it makes it better. I hope every one finds there cure because it's awful.

Hope you are still reading. Here is what has stopped my burningin mouth

syndrome pain. About 6 weeks ago my ENT put me on Clonazepam 1 mg.

You crush it up and put into a teaspoon of luke warm water to dissolve then

swish in your mouth 3 -5 minutes and spit. Do this 3 times a day.

My doc is Jacob Smith in Springfield Missouri. I've had BMS for 2 years and this

is the only thing that worked for me.

    Hi there,

Did you ever establish if the cause was the venlafaxin?

Did you get rid of your burning mouth syndrome?

Or you mean it helps with the pain?

HI.  Have you been checked for silent acid reflux?   Try Zantac 150 to see if your situation helps and write a message to let me know if it does.  I suffered for 6 months before I found my answers.  It could be other things but I feel strongly that acid reflux is silent and can be very harmful if not taken care of.  There are other things that it could be but try looking into this first.

I also have bms but believe I have found the long awaited answers.  I had an endoscopy performed and found that I have acid reflux.  It only makes since that the reason our tongue and roof of mouth burns into sinuses is due to ACID.  Take zantac 150 it will help until you find a GI specialist to find answers.  Also, do a pop/soda test and if you put freshly opened pop into your mouth - swish it around and if it sizzles alot and you get a bunch of black stringy stuff in your mouth it is pulling the acid out of your tongue - spit it out (DO NOT swallow) avoid drinking pop except gingerale (moderation) and you will need to diet - look up all things to be avoided.
