Burning pain in hip that was replaced 2 years ago.

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had a THR 2 years ago.

My recovery was slow and there are still things I can't do but recently I've had a burning pain in the back and to the side of the hip.

I was also just diagnosed with OA of Lumbar L1-S1 including stenosis and 5 bulging discs.

Has anybody had burning pain in hip after 2 years or more?

Thanks!

    Hi,

I had a FRHR 10 months ago and have felt like i'm back to normal since the 7th - 8th month.  What you are describing doesn't sound normal.  You may want to contact your specialist to get it checked out.  It may be something minor, but until you get a diagnosis you'll probably continue to worry.

    Best of luck!

The radiation to clear out bone pieces on my first THR did not completely work. Xrays show a small cluster of bone fragments. There are medical terms for this, so you can google them. I get occasional burning which lasts for a second or two, then goes away. From what I understand, the only way to get rid of these small bone fragments is thru surgery to remove them. They don't bother me enough to even think of surgery. I'll be 76 in June. That might be what's causing your burning. FYI, my Anterior THR was fantastic. I needed no walking aids after about 5 days or so.

This could be coming from your back. I would see if that's the case. Sounds like possibly the siatic nerve. Nerves cause a burning type pain. Take care.

    dear miele,

so sorry to hear this ...

I am sure that OA of Lumbar is not helping and might contribute to this burning pain - Is it a constant pain?

    How is your other hip?

do you see a physical therapist ?

please let us know how you are doing otherwise, okay ?

    big warm hug

Thank you all for your replies!

For some unknow reason, I woke up this morning and it's gone!

I had been using a heating pad and Ben-Gay for days and maybe that did the trick.

I guess sometimes I just expect that with a THR I shouldn't have pain or issues.

But I still would've had the surgery anyway.

I still need to get the other hip done because it's bone on bone as well but I just hate the idea of another long recovery period.

    It's hell getting old!

Happy to hear that the burning senstation is gone -

I know how you feel about the other hip ...I am sure you know that having a bone-on-bone hip affects the way you walk and your new hip, right ...

It will be okay , Miele - you will have a strong hip to support you while you are healing from surgery and that makes a difference ...

      angel blessings
