Burning pain top left hand side buttock

Posted , 4 users are following.

Had L4-5/L5-S1 fusion November 2016 (severe scoliosis/arthritis).

Total hip replacement (left) May 2017.

Prior to both these procedures had severe burning pain top of buttock left hand side. Unfortunately, after all the surgery I've undergone I still have this debilitating pain - neurosurgeon (back) says fusion was a success; ortho

surgeon, who I see for first time post op mid June, I am sure will say THR was a great success.  Trouble is what is going on with the pain I have had for last 12 months and is there a solution? I am pain free when lying down.

This may not be it but...

I've had an L3 through S1 fusion, an L2/L3 LLIF fusion, a right hip replaced plus the left knee is now metal too.  Because we all walk "funny" (change out gait) when we're in pain, we can develop lots of hip misalignments, locked SI joints and more over time.  I see a Chiropractor who helps me when I need it.

Last week, I got this insanely sharp, burning, stabbing pain in my left hip (the good one) right above my butt.  Answer: Quadratus Lumborum (QL) muscle. Rock hard and causing me fits.  She loosened it up for me and I'm feeling less pain every day.

What's amazing is that the area of actual pain may be caused by a "trigger point" elsewhere.  In this case, the pain was hip/buttock but the QL muscle runs vertically where your kidney is located, connecting your pelvis to your last rib...nowhere near the actual pain.  If your fusion and hip are fine, I'd see a Chiro WHO HAS SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE with back and hip implants so they know what to adjust and what to stay away from!!!  Mine is very skilled in this regard.

Check it out...least invasive therapy out there.
