burning round back passage

Posted , 9 users are following.

Having had LS for about a year I was getting on OK with the usual routine of using a steroid cream, as we're all told to do, getting down to once a week after the initial onset.   I now find that although this keeps the situation in check all around my front parts, I'm starting to get really bad burning round my back passage.  I don't know of the seroid cream is causing this, so I am now reluctant to apply it around the back area.  I've tried all the usual moisturisers, aloe vera, coconut oil, creams form the health shop etc., but nothng seems to clear it up.  The last time I went to the Gyno she said that the steroid cream is supposed to suppress any symptons so it couldn't be that, but I read in this forum that some have ptoblems with it.  If anyone has suffered this or has any thought, ideas, or suggestions on this matter I would be most grateful for any advice.  Many thanks in advance.

Yes I've had that problem as well, can't get steroid cream down to once a week. I'm using steroid cream everywhere it's needed, rubbing in e45 cream well then steroid cream.

    Thats working best for me

I too have had a lot of burning around back. As well as some itching. Right now I am using Clob every other day, can't seem to get less than that!frown I have been applying Clob about once a week around back. I have also been using Jojoba oil a couple times daily on all under parts, as well as Aquaphor around back. The Auquaphor acts as a barrier, which seems to help tremendously! I also love to soak in bath water with baking soda. (although I can't do this often, as I have small children.) I am more comfortable now with this routine, than I have been for a long time! Hope you can get this under control, as I know how terrible that feels!

I have the burning and itching as well around the anus. My sister( lactation nurse) told me an old theory of using hot tea bags that have cooled somewhat and placing in that area. She said the tannic acid from the tea is a remedy for nursing mothers with cracked nipples. I tried this, this morning after a baking soda bath and I am happy to report it worked. After the tea bag sat in the "cheeks" for about 10 minutes I applied my steroid ointment. I've had a really good day since.

What a great discovery! Now that ou mention it, the dentist had me pack the sockets of my wisdom teeth with tea bags - 45 years ago!

i was at the gyny clinic yesterday and mentioned my back passage is cracking and sore,he suggested the dermovate which i use for the front bits,i asked about aqueous cream in that area and that  my skin gets heated with this,he said aqueous cream shouldn`t and anything that makes things warm should not be used, mentioned the bicarb baths and he said no to that as bicarb is an abrasive and will make the skin raw!!he said that any moisteriser without perfume is the best way to treat sores along with the dermovate twice weekly. He sees me every 3 months and always does a smear test and has time to listen.i feel alot more confident dealing with this awful desease knowing i can ask any questions and get true answers,he really does go the extra mile and i feel so sorry for amny of you ladies on here that have not had such an understanding doctor.

We did have one member who took baking soda to that extreme.

She applied a paste of it. Very bad outcome. The idea is to change the ph of rinse/bath water. Not to use it the way I scrub a casserole dish.

I was given Hydromol ointment in a 500g plastic container to use instead of soap. You can ruub it all over you and use in the shower too. I was told to put it on the whole area from front to back passage & use it like a barrier cream too. My gynocologist said its ok to use it on the blisters that I sometimes get too. It does seem to help a bit especially as I find when I urinate my wee does seem to agrivate it if I haven't put this cream on. I now wash with this all over my body as I get eczema too. I have Hayfever too so I know my imune system is knackered ! Has anybody else been given Hydromol ? I use Betnavate too when needed. But I seem to still get problems and little sore areas at the front fairly regularly, I was told to look out for black patches as that could be cancer. I have white cracks now and again , but not too bad at present. But no sex life now as too painful & sore afterwards. It does make me feel a freak ! I was undaignosed for over two years as I kept having different doctors and they said it was thrush often without even examining me. My doctor was was on maternity leave & when she came back sent me to a gynocologist who knew what it was immediatly - so annoying that I waited so long to be properly diagnosed!

Have you tried zinc Oxide?  I use Aveda (fragrance free) baby diaper rash lotion (zinc oxide).  It will at least keep it from getting worse.

Ironically, that's EXACTLY how my LS started! I was having horrible irritation, itching and burning back there. It was all peri-anal. It took months and several visits to two gynecologists to find out what the problem was.

I use Clobetasol steroid ointment back there, as well as frontally (it's progressed there too, at this point) and I can tell you that steroid oitnment/cream is effective on that area. It's the only thing that keeps the symptoms at bay.
