Hi, Darcy.  I am only 7 weeks post but I too get that feeling on my scar with long pants.  I put a gel on my scar that is made to moisten scars because I thought maybe it was too dry but I still get that burning feeling.

I I was glad to see you ask about this.  Maybe someone has a solution.

Nerve endings being irritated. Use Vit E oil and massage it in good a couple of times a day. Wear surgical hose for awhile or anything that will keep the material from rubbing against the knee. This may take awhile for it to completely heal

Hello Darcy055, I am 11 months post op. When I had that burning on my scar whenever any kind of material touched it, I wrapped Saran Wrap around it. Sometimes it got a little warm but it kept the scar from being irritated. I hope this helps..

    HI Darcy,

i use liquid bandaid on my scar it dries and forms a protective shield. My pharmist suggested it .

Try yoga pants! They are very soft, light-weight, and really comfortable.

I'm nearly a year post op, and my scars are still a bit tender. Wore jeans to work in the yard when it was still chilly, and my scars hurt for several days afterwards!

Hi Darcy. Yes I too had and still have the same problem. I am 12 weeks post op now and it started around 5 weeks. I was told to massage Bio oil into scar. It is not as bad now but does annoy me as day does go on and I can't bear anything touching it at times not even the bed clothes. I still can't wear my jeans as they really annoy it.

Think I might try some of the suggestions people have mentioned here. Best wishes s

Hi, Darcy- we know that pain well. All tips help but found wrapping knee the best . I even got really creative and cut the foot out of a pair longish sox and pulled it up over the knee as a barrier. It helped some. The plastic wrap trick was the thing that got me the first best night sleep. My husband will agree as one night he found me sitting up in manic frustrated tears with that pain. That's actually how I found this group and the YouTube video with the plastic wrap technique. Best of luck. It does get better.

Another trick I read was to cover it in silk, like a scarf. Hold it together with a price of tape.

I am at 8 weeks and I only have the issue when I wear jeans. Not my dress pants for work. It is the strangest thing.

1.5 years later I still have this sensation with one pair of jeans. Most of my pants don't bother me. Loose pants or stretchy fabrics feel the best. There is still an odd sensetivity around my knees and down into my shins. Some say it will always be there. I will say that it isn't as electric feeling as it once was. Or am I just used to it?

It can take nerves a long time to heal. You may have already seen me post the story of my wife's bout with Guillian-Bairrie Syndrome back in 1977. It was a newer paralysis caused by a virus and in her case she was paralyzed from mid torso down. In some the disease progressed up to the throat and choaked the victims to death. It started in the spine and worked its way through the nervous system. She was hospitalized for close to 8 weeks and had to be retrained to walk again with the use of physical therapy and lots of special equipment. She was over 3 years before the nerves got back to close to normal 8 months after she got out of the hospital I came in one evening and found her sitting on the kitchen floor peeling potatoes. The legs started acting strange so she just sat the pan on the floor nd Sat before she collapsed. Nerves are the last part of any surgery to heal and the process is very very slow. One side note........a very high % of people who had GBS as its known have progressed into Parkinson's disease. She was diagnosed with PD about 7 years ago but probably had The initial onset close to 15 years ago.
