Burning sensation when urinating

I have been having really bad burning sensation when urinating. I have went to the doctors multiple times I have no UTI’s and no STD’s. I do have Mirena but my doctor told me he didn’t think that was the reason. He had given pills for UTI to help with the burning and that was about it. I don’t urinate much at all and when I do it is just little streams that are so uncomfortable. I’m not sure what to do next when he states there is nothing else he can do?

Hi there, My situation is different to yours. A mixture of urinal urgency anxiety, soreness down below and also a numb bladder. The urgency episodes are felt in my urethra, not my bladder. I have seen the Doc, Bladder Nurse, Urologist and Gynaecologist about this.
So I am wondering if its worth you seeing a different Doctor and being referred to a Urologist.
By the way there are some days I don't urinate much either. Don't know if I should be drinking more but I usually drink 1500ml or 1750ml per day.
Must admit I have not heard of Mirena before but that awful burning when seeing is the pits. I usually get it with UTI's. I'm sure there must be something else that they can do for you.

try looking up interstitial cystitis, it's a painful chronic bladder syndrome with symptoms such as urgency, frequency, small amounts of urine voided, as well as burning. It's a syndrome which has symptoms similar to uti's however it's not the same thing, the unfortunate thing is that there is no cure for it, as of yet, however there have been people who managed to get symptoms under control through alterations in their diet. I would highly recommend that you stop taking antibiotics, especially because if there is no bacterial infection in your body, you are simply destroying your immune system and wiping out the good bacteria in your gut flora. Beware of antibiotics such as fluoroquinolones which are commonly prescribed for uti's these include drugs such as cipro, levaquin, olfloxacin, norfloxacin, these drugs can cause permanent nerve damage and muscle and tendon damage, yet doctors prescribe these for uti's and sinus infections like its candy, even though it should be used as last line of defence.
