Hi how's everyone been doing?
Is the burning sensation better?
I'm presently having a very bad attack of this burning hotness. It's been one and a half months of pure hell. My skin is wrinkling from the sheer heat.
Its been really interesting to read that this might be stress related. I think u are all onto something! I am post menopause about 6 years but have had hot flashes since perimenopause which progressed to these burning attacks in the last year or so. I also have Graves currently euthyroid and on hindsight from the genius here, I believe the Graves has something to do with these hormonal ups and downs

Hi ling100,
I'm 28 months post menopause and the burning is a lot better but not gone. My feet are particularly bad and my hands after cooking and baking, so heat seems to be s trigger for me and I wonder if shoes and flip-flops could be triggers for feet burning. Some sort of allergic reaction coupled with hormone withdrawal?
Many of the weird perimenopause symptoms are gone but others are lurking around. Still having hot flushes coupled with anxiety symptoms and a persistent morning fatigue. Otherwise I feel much better than before.
I think estrogen can mess up with thyroid so all related!
How are you all doing, ladies?

Bad burning in feet and legs last week, and all the old symptoms of not feeling well, aches & pains, fatigue, visual issues, headaches, trouble breathing, internal shakes, etc. that all go along with the burning feet. Also felt some heat in the rest of my body and face too, so thinking it's starting to migrate up. Even my teeth start aching when my feet are burning. Central nervous system?
This week not as bad, but still there, and if I was to get my period it would've been this week. Will see what next week brings. I'm averaging about a good week a month, but better than one day like it used to be.

Thanks. You will fell a LOT of symptoms until you reach menopause (12 months without periods) but things definitely calm down after that. I think HRT doesn't make a big difference when you're perimenopausal, having astronomical hormone fluctuations, unless you're on BCP to override your own hormones.

And ya heat just makes an attack worse

Thanks, it's comforting to know it will ease or end, but I wish I had a rough idea of when my last period would have been. I had hysterectomy in my 30s now 52 and a blood test a year ago confirmed menopause, these nasty burning, aching, spotty manifestations are so horrible and is now seriously affecting my mental health, the mood swings and violent outbursts plus the crying and generally feeling depressed every day I can't cope.

HI Julie,
The average age for menopause is 51 so I guess you're experiencing the last round of the roller coaster. The worst symptoms for me, anxiety, insomnia, mood swings, feelings of impending doom, all disappeared after menopause. Others remain, like hot flushes, morning fatigue, weight gain, bloating, tinnitus, hair loss, gum issues, low libido and burning feet. Others appeared after menopause, burning hands, joint aches, lack of motivation.
It's like an 'olderlescence'. Overwhelming and frustrating. The positives: no periods, no bleeding, no cramps, no swollen boobs, no PMT, no tampons, no pregnancies, no acne... you get the picture!

Hi Marilu,
I totally get the impending doom, for the past 1 1/2 years I've been up and very down and what doesn't go in my favour I also have ADHD and I'm hypothyroid which the blood tests were normal three months ago. I am due to see a lady doctor in a couple of weeks to see if there is any help I can get and was also considering hrt oestrogen only due to the hysterectomy I had, would that help do you know with the burning sensations or any other suggestions that may help with it, also with the burning do you know if it is normal that my skin doesn't feel dry (use thick moisturizer twice daily) but it feels like sandpaper on my lower legs and the hairs only grow to just above stubble then won't grow anymore, it's weird. thank you for the information you have provided me though it does help to know that I'm not going mental or imagining it.

I think oestrogen would help but be aware that it also have some side effects, including influence on thyroid so maybe you will need to monitor is closely.
I have tried HRT in perimenopause but it was useless and have worsen migraines. When your hormones are fluctuating wildly it's hard to achieve a balance. Once you enter menopause and your levels are flat, oestrogen therapy might help. You can try as see how it goes. At least you won't need progesterone, which most women find quite hard to tolerate. Good luck : )

Suzanne, do these internal shakes emanate from your gut or epigastric?

hi annette & ling - i have enjoyed reading your posts, because your symptoms most resemble mine. Right now I am really being slammed with burning chest & back and my forearms feel like they are burning as well, which is sort of new for me. Something that is new for me is that my heart is pounding more (not palps, more pounding) which now has my anxiety thru the roof. Since december I Have horrible aches & pains & now i am wondering if i have an auto immune disease or thyroid problem. My face feels hot & feels like it is swollen, but my husband says it isnt. I Have had extensive thyroid testing as late as August & my thyroid appeared normal, could it change in that short of time or is this still all menopause? I just dont feel great. i looked online & it says that thyroid issues can cause tingling (which i have had in the past) but says nothing about burning. i have been suffering with the burning for about a year & 1/2. i just really feel "off". Have you ladies had similar experiences?

hi debra
I have had the burning chest and back as you know for three years in may, I've stopped worrying about it because it's just there no better and no worse, to me it's either nerve damage, anxiety or post meno symptoms, to be honest my head spins at times trying to work it all out. according to google we shouldn't still be getting symptoms!! you'll have to remind me again how long you have been having symptoms? from what I have read about if you have symptoms before your last period well then you can have symptoms longer when in post menopause, ie I was having hot flushes well before my last period, my last period was ten years ago and I am still getting hot flushes, but totally at a loss as to if I can all other symptoms down to post meno, it's so confusing, my anxiety definitely started getting worse about three years ago, and is memory and speech changes down to meno or just age related?!
I get palpitations and heart thumping sometimes, but I somehow don't let it worry me, I think after what you say about your thyroid that that's not causing your symptoms, perhaps the aches and pains are arthritis? is it really painful? do you live in the UK? if it's the States is it true that you are automatically tested for things, in the UK they tend to diagnose by elimination, they start by ruling out sinister stuff first, I find it scary, I go to the doctors in the hope they won't send me off for testing because I fear the results haha 😃 I have tingling, that's been put down to nerve damage but who's to day I'm not vitamin deficient it's post meno, I feel your confusion, I try not to worry too much as it makes it worse and hey we're still here living with our symptoms 😃 seek more medical advice if it puts your mind at rest.

hi again debra
I take vitamin D and a menopause supplement for over 65's even though I'm 62, 63 in may, one or the other has helped with the tingling , the tingling in my face is really mild compared to how it was
