Hi margaret89358, yes I know the feeling, had it worse last year than this year, it almost disappeared on lower doses. Then I flared and it started all over again, but not as severe. I believe it is the Pred. Good luck, think positive and try to smile. 🙂

Good Margaret 89358, I believe that attitude is very important. Losing weight I have been quite unsuccessful in that endeavor, good luck. Thinking positive and keeping a smile. 🙂

    Hi,

You are right. There is terrible feeling when your mouth Is "paralyzed and burning". I have it for last 8 months and continuously to the end of Pred.

    Good Luck.

    Hi Margaret89358

Not “burning” as such, but definitely a feeling as if it has been burnt. That lack of tastebud sensation when you have scorched it with something hot, and the loss of sensation is how mine feels 24/7. Also my teeth are now sensitive to hot and cold, where they never were previously. Tick it up to the long list of possible pred side effects I guess. We will soldier on regardless. 💪

Check with your GP - it could be thrush. It isn't uncommon when you are on pred and it doesn't always show up as white patches.

Thank you Eileen, I wish a lot of symptoms that a lot of us have, or have experienced since taking Pred was documented in a leaflet on Polymyalgia rheumatica. We all know about the moon face, and weight gain around our middle. I read nothing  in the leaflet given to me by my Rhmy. I have learnt on this forum that we sweat, we suffer from  breathlessness, hair loss, facial hair etc  if one doesn't  go onto this forum you are alone and can imagine all sorts. May you continue to help and advise Eileen your help is invaluable.

Thank you very much, Anhaga I have just read the article you suggested. my husband read it as well, he now relises  what PMR is and it is a disease, and taking Predisollone has its own side affects and some of those are out if our hands.

Thank you p, everyone should read it.

My Burning Mouth Syndrome started 8 years ago before taking the Prednisone. My doctor suggested Staying away from minty toothpaste & strong alcohol mouthwashes. Makes it worse! I do not see this ever going away but the burning does seem to have lessen over time. I am at 7mg of Prednisone now.
