Burrning Skin Sensation

Hi, I hope someone can help or has expereince of this. For the last 14 months I have been suffering from chest pains and after a trip to A&E in the New Year (all Ok), my GP put me on Fluoxetine. However, for the past 5/6 few days I have began to experience a burning skin sensation on my mainly my left thigh and/or lower leg.I have been on Fluoxetone before and never had this happen. I'm not sure if it is my anxiety or something else, but it causing me a lot of worry that is probably making the symptoms worse.

Since being on Fluoxetine my chest pain has gone. I don't understand it.

Thanks,

Stuart

It may just be your anxiety, I wouldn't be surprised if it was. It wouldn't hurt to ring your GP and explain the symptom, maybe they'll be able to reassure you it's simply anxiety or a harmless side effect.

Thanks for the reply, I saw the GP today, he's quite matter of fact on his approach and said to come back in 2 weeks if the problems didn't subside as I might need to see a Neurologist. In the meantime, I have been referred to a psychologist. Still worried sick though as my HA is in overdrive.

Well that's crap, he should be able to see how distressed you are. Just try and rest assured that it's most probably nothing serious, and it will eventually be solved.

I have burning in my feet. Did all the neuro tests. Nada. Psychologist here said it may be conversion disorder. I take xanax to calm them. I was not on any meds at all when mine started.

I have been having this burning sensation too. It only lasts a second or 2 and then it goes away and comes back randomly. I get it on a spot on the outside of my leg by my knee about the size of my palm but is not hot to touch. I also have had it on my other leg as well and a few times on my shin. Is this how yours feels? It doesn't hurt it's just annoying and because I have health anxiety and google every symptom I fear Its a neurological diseasesad I have read alot of people have it on forums and don't know what it is though

Hi, exactly the same with the random feeling with it on mainly my left leg thigh area and shins. I also have what feels like sore skin on the inside of my knees. As you say, it doesn't hurt but it does worry me as to the cause - is it anxiety? My HA is bad at the moment and it only adds to the stress and anxiety i'm suffering from. I try not to google, just stick to anxiety web sites. I had heart anxiety due to chest pains, that has now moved to this. Let me know how you get on.

I don't know if it's anxiety I'm hoping that's what it is. I have been through a really bad episode of health anxiety, the worst one yet, for the last 4 months. Everytime one sensation or pain goes away I get a different one and it sends me into a panic all over againsad so far I have had little muscle twitches everywhere randomly, i still get them but not as bad as a few months ago. I get muscle tensign in my arms and legs where they just feel heavy and tired randomly sometimes my arms or legs will ache/pain. As I am writing this I just got the warm sensation on the outside of my knee for a second and then it's gone. It literally feels like a heating pad is against that part of my leg or I'm standing by a heater or I puta cup of coffee against it for a second. I know there are hundreds of anxiety syntpoms I just don't understand how anxiety can cause all of thissad I have had anxiety for years but never his bad and I have never had panic attacks until this episode started 4 months ago. I didn't know what was happening and I thought I was dying. I felt lightheaded and weak like inwas going to faint and felt like I couldn't breathe and had to keep taking deep breaths. I had heart palpitations as well the panic attacks have subsided but up until a monthor 2 ago I was having them everyday 2 or 3 times. Have you had any of these symptoms as well? The muscle twitches everywhere aches in arms legs numbness or tingling muscle tension and tired muscles?

      Hi Tracy,

I'm experiencing the issues simiar to you - fatigued muscle in my legs, joint pain/ache, twitching, warm skin sensations. Ive had it for about 2/3 weeks now and started after a trip to A&E for chest pain, I, like you am extremenly worried and start to panic when the symptoms occur and i feel anxious constantly. I did experince a similar episode about 10 years ago that took many months to sibside and was blamed on anxiety/stress/depression. I had CBT at the time, not that I believed it would work as I couldnt believe anxiety would cause all the symptoms.I also tried various medications. Have you had any tests or investigations? I had a blood test this week that came back normal.I'm also on 20mg Fluoxetine.
