I asked whether He could buy reading glasses from any stores but was told he needed prescription due to astigmatism which he was not aware of his prescription is +2.50. My query is should be buy cheap reading glasses from the supermarkets or buy it prescribed from boots. She said he has got a slight prescription for distant but should be ok to drive without glasses for now and to review in 1 yr. Any advice pl. Thanks

Hi. My optician recommended that I get regressive lenses (varifocals in all but name) for computer use. I took the prescription and used an online site to order glasses suitable reading and computer use; ie; the strength of the reading correction was reduced by 1. Cost about £35 including an anti glare coating.

I buy my specs from Specsavers. The hospital gave me a prescription that I could take to any optician.

All the opticians sell cheap prescription glasses.

I wouldn't be happy buying 'reading' glasses from supermarkets & then using them to drive.

Are you talking about your husband?  You jump between 'he' & 'she'

If you are at all uncertain, ask the hospital fort advice.

That should say  - ask for advice!

I choose to spend a lot of money on my specs but I think it is worth it but, as I said, you can buy cheap specs with prescription lenses & also, a High Street Optician can also check your husband's eyes to see that the new lenses are still ok.

I bought reading glasses from a chemist. One is +2.5, the other +3.0. After my second eye was done I now have my optician’s prescription. I need 2.75 in one eye and 3.0 in the other. One eye has a -0.5 cyl the other is zero.

I have ordered one pair of prescription glasses from Specsavers for £25. I doubt I’ll notice much difference. But it makes sense to me. Prior to surgery I used to spend about £400 to £500 on specs with ultra thin Zeiss lenses because I had very high myopia. It’s an I’ll wind ......
