BV CURED!

I was pretty excited to come on this site to share what has cured me because i know how frustrating bv is and i am sure some of you have tried many things.
I had bv for 3 months. I am just now getting over it. I had gone to the doctors twice and have taken metronidazole and clindamycin. both intravaginal gels. Both gave me unwanted side effects and my symptoms came back after a week with both. I have also tried douching with h202 and vinegar for 5 days but it did not cure me while taking acidiphilus tablets and inserting two vaginally. It did not cure me. Little by little the itch would come back.
After a lot of research i was determined to fight this as I have seen many women have it for years and not have any solutions. Here are my findings and I am proud to say I am bv free! I take a vitamin b complex with folic acid 800, vitamin d3 5000iu and acidiphilus daily. do some research on it and test it out, i promise you wont be disappointed!

1. When you go to the doctor and they confirm you have BV, make sure you have them tell you the strain of bacteria. I was given metronidazole twice when that wasn't even the right antibiotic for my strain, which was e.coli
2. If the antibiotics don't work the first time, DO NOT keep taking more, even if they reccomend it. If antibiotics don't work on the first try, they most likely won't knock it out for good on the second try. Here's the reason why--BV is caused by a change in your pH level. A healthy pH level lets the good bacteria thrive and the bad bacteria die. Antibiotics kill both, and your pH level will most likely still be off because antibiotics kill the bacteria that help maintain the a healthy ecosystem. This causes harmful bacteria to recolonize and the bv will come back once more.
I was given an antibiotic specifically for the ecoli strain, and then that was finally gone but boom--yeast infection. I did monistat 7 which took care of the yeast infection, but I still had some unknown infection afterwards. This made me realize that it has to be something wrong within me, not externally. Something was causing my pH level to be out of wack, so my final piece of advice (do this even before you start taking antibiotics) is
3. Get a blood test. Check if you're deficient in any vitamin, especially D, B12, and Iron (but check as many as you can...and if you're near menopause, check your estrogen levels). I had to specifically request a test for vitamin D after all the research I did. Turns out I was low in vitamin D, which creates antimicrobial peptides within you and is vital to fighting off infections. Vitamin D deficiencies are very common as well. Two weeks after I start taking it + a women's probiotic every day, I'm finally cured. I even had sex and no infection. Good luck everyone, and get a blood test!

I am just trying to figure out which combination to use (I know it varies by person):
I read that you said to consider getting the Mag/Cal/Zinc tablet. Are you taking that in addition to the vitamin b complex with folic acid 800, vitamin d3 5000iu and acidiphilus daily?
Any suggestions are appreciated!

I got it in the summer for 2 months and then I was fine up until now (January / February.) I still currently have it. I've taking flagyl orally and metro gel 2 weeks after because it hasn't cleared. I went to see a gyno this week and she swabbed by vagina with gentian violet. It's an anti fungal killer used on thrush. For 2 days know I've had a bright blue/violet discharge from the gentian violet. It is crazy to see anything that color coming out of your body but it's completely normal because it's the color of the treatment that is put inside of the inner lining walls of your vagina. You have to wear pads with it because the dye stains your panties. Anyhow my gyno suggested I not take the metro gel if possible so that this treatment can help "reset" my body. So far so good. I am still a little irritated down there, but I haven't ran to fill the metro gel prescripton either. I'm a bit nervous to try the vitamin c pills because I don't know how my body will react. I've done the yogurt suppository before and it helped relieve the symptoms but it didn't cure it. My cycle starts next week (unfortunately) and I'm hoping it doesn't throw off my (already disturbed) ph levels.. Grrrr!!! Hoping that if I take vitamin c, acidophilus, prenatals, vitamin D and zinc it'll clear up on its own. I love sugar so I'm trying to stay out from it, but I can't completely cut carbs. I'm a vegetarian and just eating veggies after working out 5 days a week just doesn't cut it. I pray daily to feel a change.

My doctor recommended the Florastar probiotic while I'm taking the antibiotic. This helps not aggravating stomach upset or even diarrhea due to the antibiotic. There are a lot of probiotics out in the market and the doctor said that they're all the same. I would suggest try to get the ones with more live bacteria. Mine has like 50,000 in one capsule. Try adding plain yogurt to your diet as well. If you like pomegranade, then have it on a daily basis if its available on the market.
