BV.... driving me insane

Hi all,
I have been diagnosed with BV about a month ago after going into my OBGYN with white patches of itchy skin on my vulva and an odd smell. Initially I was told it could be linchen schlerisos (so a painful biopsy was taken, and it came back negative thank goodness) and went back and tested positive for BV. I was given the initial 7 day 2x a day metrodazinole that temporary worked, and symptoms (white “toilet paper like” discharge and odor) came back. I went back in and was given the same antibiotic along with the gel form 1x a week for 4 weeks. I am on week 5 (I only did 3 vaginal inserts as I was extrmely cramping days after inserting), and am still having these horrible symptoms. My bf is FINALLY coming home after being out of state for years and right before, of course this happens.
I have been taking daily probiotics, decreased sugar intake, increased water, only worn cotton underwear, and have increased my vitamin c. I am extremely worried about this causing Pelvic inflammatory, not to mention the embarrassment of smell when I’m finally able to be intimate after years. I know others have it much worse, but I am Becoming extremely discouraged and hopeless. I don’t want to fight this for years. I know antibiotics usually do more harm than good, but I want this taken care of Any advice, treatments, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Okay so I was at the gyno for what felt like 2 months straight. Back and forth between BV AND YI. They finally told me to get the over the counter luvena vaginal moisturizer. It’s not advertised as a treatment but I’m telling you it works. Here’s more info on the ingredients and how they work http://femininehealthreviews.com/luvena-restorative-vaginal-moisturizer-full-review-does-it-work/

Hi Tori,
Sounds like my exact story. I’m beyond sick of this and also losing hope in getting better. I fear having intercourse with my bf for the fear of having bv but even when we go days without doing it, I still have bv. I literally went to the doctor this year alone about 6 times and 3 times I was given Metrodinazole as well. I don’t want to keep taking that because I feel that’s was causing the occurrent infection as it kills both good and bad bacteria. I bought a bunch of supplements (vitamin d3, b complex, probiotics, & vitamin C with rose hips) but it doesn’t seem like it’s helping me at all. I have another appointment this Thursday because I’m still itchy, having discharge and now cramping. I’m also scared of having pelvic inflammatory disease because of how frequent I get it. I’m so depressed over this and I just wish there was an answer and cure for this!! I forgot to mention I started taking garlic supplements but not sure how effective it is. I read that inserting a clove of garlic over night can help but haven’t tried it myself. I’m a little scared to insert anything and possibly making it worse. I’m sorry Tori I know what you’re going through 😢

I used a tablespoon of hydrogen poroxide in a tub of water and sat in this for twenty minutes. The next day I did the same. I may have used sea salt as well. 4 ounces in the same tub of water. Do not use normal table salt as this can cause an irritating skin reaction and may not not work to ease or take away the symptoms. Hydogen poroxide is an antiseptic known to kill germs as does sea salt.
There are other alleviants or cures such as vinegar with bicarbonate of soda mixed (sit in a tub of water with these added). As well as tea tree oil. Add drops of this.
I have used goldenseal tincture as well. A few drops of this in water in a tub to sit in, though not entirely convinced.
Then there is Greek yoghurt. Putting half a teaspoon of this into the vagina each day for as long as you want.
Then there are PH balance liquids from the chemist that you can insert into the vagina.
Virgin coconut oil is said to be very good though I am not convinced.
There is some information from youtube.com

Different things at different times.
I would say the hydrogen peroxide was the one that worked.
About a month from the above I was irritable down below so had a combination of the above.
I would, as well, while suffering take a mild tranquiliser. These complaints affect the nervous system.
