BV Like symptoms but No BV?

I have been dealing with BV and vaginal odor off an on for most of my adult life. About 3 years ago, I started a new relationship that has since ended. Shortly after our first encounter I experienced severe vaginal odor and high vaginal Ph that I have not been able to control and is not responding to treatment.

I also have vaginal nerve pain after sex, often experience lower abdominal cramps when the odor is severe, experience break-out vaginal bleeding possibly related to a small uterine fibroid, have extended spotting after menstrual period, trouble evacuating my bladder completely and noticed my vaginal area becomes warm, sometimes painful after having had a few drinks.

I have tried antibiotics, probiotics, boric acid, vitamins, suppositories, coconut oil, peroxide, diet changes, exercise, and more. I have abstained from sex, only use barriers when active, wear cotton undies, don't use tampons or anything scented, only wash with water, stopped shaving, stopped drinking alcohol, just about everything I could do to improve the situation. I have seen a specialist who has tested me for STIs, STDs, BV, checked my hormones, and did a PCR test. All normal. I don't know what is left. He said his patients usually respond to the boric adic and probiotics. But I still have a high Ph and NO BV. What the heck is wrong with me then because I smell musty, rotten or like ammonia.

hi Zimm, im sorry you have been dealing with this for so long. i too have been dealing with this s**t for almost 8 years and it wasnt until this past year that its gotten worse! i have been on almost 10 rounds of oral pills (currently taking them again), metro gel, clyndamicin cream, boric acid, vh vaginal essentials, probiotics (with highest number), garlic pills, vitamins, cotto underwear, sometimes i have no intercourse with my bf (sadly) and i still get bv. its so frustrating nothing works. as far as the boric acid, those made me bleed and made my discharge watery instead of thick. it still itched and i felt like i peed on myself. im sorry girl i know how you feel : (

Liz10482 - I just noticed you said boric acid makes you bleed! OMG, It does the same to me. I called my doc and asked if this was a normal side effect and he said boric acid shouldnt cause any bleeding. Total BS. The bleeding has happened more than once, sometimes just spotting. I am a little relieved to learn I am not alone but it sucks that it has that affect because boric acid it the only thing that has improved my symptoms, except peroxide douche but I think the douche may have caused issues for the long term. I am going to try the Fluomizin and/or Gentian Violet treatment. Then I can say I have tried everything!

I have been on birth control pills for 2 months and within the first 3 weeks I noticed a difference. I have had a period and have had sex and no BV , no high PH and no ODOR! I feel normal again. I am dating again and even looking for a new job. I wouldve NEVER considered these changes last year. THE ROOT OF MY ISSUE: several days of spotting after my period that kept my vaginal Ph high and usually led to BV infection. Even if you do not have extended days of spotting ask your doctor about using birth control pills to control the number of days or to skip a period so that treatments have more than 28 days to work.

hi, get checked for cytolytic vaginosis. most gynos are completely unaware of it, treat with baking soda douches or baking soda sitz bath.....if you douche, do about 1 tspn of baking soda only 2-3 days during the week
