BV misconceptions

Posted , 2 users are following.

having read some of the comments of women that seem in turmoil about their BV i am saddened. The bacteria that causes BV is always in your vagina, even when you do not have BV, the fishy smell and discharge are caused by the bacteria growing beyond their normal levels, our vaginas actually need theses bacterias to protect us from more serious and less welcome infection.

Vaginas are not a friendly place really, they are full of germs and moisture and warms are the best place for growing these germs.

I have suffered from BV for approx the last 5 or 6 yrs, i probably get it about every 3 months, treatment can vary from metronizadol to clyndamicin cream (which i prefer as it works quicker) but natural LIVE bio youghurt works well too, this works for thrush too... i spoke with a specialist in the subject of BV at my local GUM clinic, she told me that being a smoker and having a coil could be massive contributors to my constant reoccuring BV.

for those of you that have had negative experiences with men distrusting you because you have developed this, educate them, show them this site where they can learn about it, after all for those of you that suffer after sex, it could be their semen that your body is reacting to!!! If they still don;t trust you after educating their narrow little minds, prehaps you might want to think about being with a guy who respects you enough to trust you!!!

Your story sounds very familiar. I did the same thing about antibiotics several times.

But for the time being I have found a solution, that works for me. It's a new product ladybalance, that helps out own good bacteria. It a vaginal tablet. I take ½ tablet 3-4 times a week - this keeps away both the smell and the itching.

    Hi Joan

Just wondered if you live in the UK, and if so, where do you order/buy your Ladybalance?

I'm trying something called Balance Activ at the moment (see my post 'possible cure') but still in the habit of researching everything I hear about BV treatments. I've checked the Ladybal website but can't find anything.

Also would you mind telling me what the ingredients are in that product?

    Thanks,

    Kaitlin.

    Hi

Sorry I haven't been here for some time. I have not found LadyBalance i any shop here in UK, but it can be ordered over the internet from ladybalance.co.uk.

I am still satisfied - uses ½ tablet 3 times per week. No foul smell - good taste.

Sorry I forgot the composition. According to the label it is made of lactose - milk sugar.

    Thanks, Joan.

I'm trying Bio-fem gel at the mo, but if that doesn't help I think I might order the Ladybalance.

Ah, life is just one experiment after another...
