BV Postmenopausal

I think I have BV again however, I encountered a very concerning problem when I asked the OBGYN Apple Tree referred me to if she could test me for it she refused! She laughed and said post menopausal women don't get BV. She said there's no way. Furthermore she went on to say that even if she did take a swab the lab would refuse to test it. She went so far as to say the lab would write her a note indicating that they do not test for BV in post menopausal women. I was shocked. Then I asked her to explain why I tested positive for BV one year earlier when my GP took a swab. I was postmenopausal then too. She looked a bit embarrassed but dug her heals in and refused to test me. She basically said the odour is in my head. The odour is not in my head. There's nothing wrong with my sense of smell. I refuse to return to this doctor. My question is, has anyone else who is post menopausal encountered this same problem? I'm at wits end trying to get rid of this odour. I can't be intimate with my partner. It's sad and unfair. Any feedback is appreciated.

First thing you need to do is FIRE your OB-GYN!!! She needs to go back to school and/or consult the CDC in Atlanta for a mini course on this condition. Nobody has a clue as to how to get rid of it!!!! Nor eradicate it!!!!
I've had BV for about 10 years now and I just learned how to live with it by using the criteria I set for myself. And, yes, BV does have an 'ODOR' - you better believe it!!!! In fact that's one way you know it is starting up again. I can't even describe the odor....cross between fish and yeast!!!
And to further qualify my telling you to "get rid of your doc", I have been post menopausal for about 20 years. I am 70 years old and celibate.
There are many remedies on the internet, even in medical books dealing with Gyne problems, but there is no precise menu for getting rid of it but you can learn to live with it. I fired my GYN 2 years ago as she was in a very large practice with about 10 OB-GYN docs and none of them had a clue. I work with my Primary/Internist and she took on this project with me. I am satisfied and will continue with her treatment regimen.
If you are interested in corresponding direct with me, let me know and we can discuss. Keep in mind that one remedy can work for others but not help you.
