BV, think I will have to live with this :(

To be honest I don't know why I'm posting this, suppose I'm just really fed up and I don't feel like any of my friends or family know what I'm going through.
I've been dealing with this for about a year now, constantly sore and/or itchy but always sore and unconfterable - is that normal for BV? Does anyone else get this problem? Doctors make out like it's not a massive problem but it's affecting my whole life, from my relationship, my work, my hobbies and my social life. I am so depressed and hopeless and the doctors tell me they don't know what causes it. When ever I see the GU Doctor she tells me I have NO bacteria down there - which is a form of BV but it's not caused by meds or anti biotics.
I've tried all the metronidazole/clindamicin, azithromycin, not washing my hair in the shower I do not take baths anymore + I use Balance active gel daily to suppress these horrible symptoms, but as soon as I stop using it.. it comes back. My partner has also been treated - but weirdly enough he has prostatitis (diagnosed 2 weeks ago) and is on a long corse of metronidazole + cirpo - could the two be linked? Should I ask my doc to treat us both rather that just him?
The doctors say it's not trich, could they ?have missed this? I have been to the GU 7 times this year- is it possible she has missed the Trich?
I want to try for a baby soon and I am scared this will wreck my chances and even if I do get pregnant I'm sure it's unconfterable enough, without the constant soreness and itchyness
I am so fed up and miserable. Doctors don't know how much affect this has on our lives.

Hi Jemma, have you tried boric acid supposidories? Please do your research on them - they are literally the ONLY things that helped me and I suffered for years. I know what you're going through... my smell was always terrible. I had constant sharp shooting pain... nasty discharge. It was the worst! I cried the first time I tried the boric acid because I felt immediate relief. Use them for 2 weeks, please try them! I'm feeling for you over here.

Hi there, thank you I will try them for sure.
Did you have the soreness aswell? I mean it's all I can think about all the time because when I don't use the gel for a couple of days it comes straight back
Do you use boric acid all the time? Or was it just the 2 weeks and then it went for good?
I feel like the doctors don't care enough to want to fix me. They just want to shut me up. Thank you xxx

Hey, sorry this is so late! I used them twice a day for 2 weeks at first and that seemed to help longer than anything else. My BV continues to return around my period, which is normal because menustration blood can throw off your ph (beginning of cycle, end of cycle, and after). I keep the boric acid on hand because they are the only thing that works - I now only insert one at the beginning and end of my period and I'm fine. Since it is an internal imbalance, I want to try completely removing sugar out of my diet. That's easier said than done... pray for me! Anyway, I hope you get some relief love!

Hi Jemma, I really feel for you. I suffered from BV for about 5 years. Taking antibiotics and suppositories to no avail. I found a book on amazon which explains everything about BV and how to treat it. As it directed I purchased a douch, sterilised water and hydrogen peroxide and made up a mix. I tried it and low and behold I have been BV free for about 3 months which is unheard of for me. It's a revelation and I can't recommend it enough. Good luck x

Hi Jemma. Yes was very sore and refrained from sex because it hurt so much. Was just handed months of antibiotics at a time which never worked. Saw a specialist twice who said there was nothing they could do. It's not an expensive book and it really explains everything, why you get it, treatment and keeping it at bay. I just think what have you got to lose. Worked for me and I was at the end of my tether. I never post online but felt compelled to tell people I'm that happy. X
