Caffeine....UGH!

Posted , 7 users are following.

I've been feeling so much better over the last ten days or so that I decided I was ready to try reintroducing caffeine into my day....it's not going so well at the moment....I had a cup of coffee earlier this morning and now I'm feeling dizzy and jittery and anxious (I'm pretty certain it's the coffee, since I have had only very small amounts of caffeine over the last eighteen months or so, due to my anxiety)...any tips and tricks for getting the caffeine out of my system sooner rather than later? I'm drinking even more water than I usually do, and have just had a small snack....what else is worth a try?

Lesson learned: I'm not ready for caffeine yet! smile

Have a snack, something like a sandwich rather than chocolate, and maybe go for a walk.

It usually takes between 2-5 hours for caffeine to leave your system...as long as a day depending on the amount you had.

so I wouldn't worry too much. It will be gone before you know it xx

What about drinking camomile tea, supposed to be really good for anxiety or de-caffinated coffdd.

Since I was diagnosed with general and health anxiety, I havnt touched and sort of caffeine. No tea, coffee, coke or even meds with it in. Currently suffering with a sinus infection and won't take my sudofed because it contains caffeine. Instead I drink decaf tea, and lots of different herbal teas such as camomile, peppermint, lemon etc. I'm actually not that bothered any more, considering I couldn't function with out coffee previously. I wouldn't risk it now. Also haven't touched a drop of alcohol either as it flares up my anxiety big time. Hope your feeling a bit better now :-)

hi Cara, Has it helped then, not touching caffeine. I'm debating whether to give up and would welcome your thoughts.

With out a doubt, makes a big difference I feel, a few months ago I felt I was doing ok so had a coffee at a friends house, oh boy did I know about it. I was all jittery and on edge. Like I said I don't even miss it now, and have got a real liking for herbal tea, and decaf is just as good (although I havnt tried decaf coffee) perhaps you could give it a go. Write a little daily diary of how you feel now whilst drinking caffeine, then next week go caffeine free, and compare your diary notes. But anything is worth a shot, right?

I love my coffee but I'm now on decaf and haven't noticed the difference, I used to drink a pint mug of full eek Caffeine coffee in the morning.
