Calf cramps

For two days now I have had really painful calf cramps - they wake me up, but also come on while I am walking too. This is new - its not like the pain of PMR. Could it be the pred, the pmr in another form or unknown?

I think calf cramps should always be checked out by doctor.

I would immediately suggest that if magnesium didn't work. But the first thing GPs here do is tell you to try magnesium and come back if it didn't work. In the context of pred and PMR they are quite common - and given many people have to wait weeks for a GP appointment trying if mag works in the meantime might be all you need. I also asked if it was claudication-type cramp - it isn't nor is it severe enough to suggest severe arterial problems are developing. A patient with peripheral arterial disease would wait a long time before anything more would be done.

My doctor suggested magnesium as soon as he know I was taking D3 and K2 because those use up the mag and it only started happening when I took those.

I would agree, if the mag does not work, then see the doc. If you are on meds that may interfere with mag or absorb it, then the doc will proably recommend mag first.
