Calf muscles randomly twitching a lot

Hello.

I was recently diagnosed with Vestibular Neuritis - inner ear problem of the nerve which I have had for 2 months.

However, something else has come up, which I noticed 2 weeks ago. I have noticed my calf muscles are constantly twitching. I do a run a lot and this year I ran the London Marathon. However, my training has relaxed quite a bit since having the ear infection. There is sometimes heaviness in my calves too, but no real pain. I don't really notice this when I am walking or running, only when I am sitting down, especially at night time in bed. I occasionally have twitches in other parts of the body too but only very noticeable in both my calf/lower leg muscles.

I don't think this has much to do with me running too much, because I don't anymore.

6 months ago while training for the marathon, I did notice the muscle twitches, but they went after a day or two... until now.

Any suggestion would be appreciated. Is this a sign of MS?

Thanks

    Hi,

I not sure that this is a "sign" of MS, however I have MS and I suffer from twitches in my leg muscles, its very noticable and its worse at night.

It may not be MS, as I had lots of crazy weird and pretty symptoms before I was diagnosed.

Hi. i have had vestibular and optic neuritis. and i also have had these leg twitches and spasms. I was diagnosed with MS but that diagnosis is being questioned.

i know lots of folks with these spasms. i am from USA and that is what they are called her or also restless legs.

    Exactly as you described.

My neurologist recommended 400 to 800 mg of Magnesium (OTC Over the Counter...not need a prescription)

before bedtime. That worked for 20 years. Then i took also a prescription called

Neurotan...but that made me drowsy so I now take Cymbalta as it is now painful.

i hope that helps. Do speak to your Doctor.

    Jeri
