Called back after 3 months

Hello all my mum had a hysterectomy on November 13th . She went to see gyno at the begging of last week her first follow up appointment afterwards where they told her that everything looked OK however they had sent one of the biopsies away for a second opinion. They discharged her and told her if she heard nothing that it was the end of the story. However by the end of the week she recieved a letter saying that they wanted to see her March 6 (3 weeks away). This has caused some concern .

Also and maybe unrelated she has developed since hysterectomy a darker patch of skin about a postage stamp in size in the middle of her forehead it is normal skin texture but getting into a light caramel colour . She is very fair skinned.

    Hi Jimbo

Not sure if it's related or not, but does the dark patch of skin look like it's indented at all?

Well I had a brown patch on my cheek that got worse after a holiday in the sun and then got slightly bigger and was indented. Originally it just looked like a large freckle. The doctor referred me to the dermatology clinic who said it was a bit of sun damage and pre cancer cells. I was so frightened but he stressed it was NOT cancer and gave me some gel to put on it for 3 days. It kind of burnt the skin and didn't look very nice as it formed a scab and slightly scarred. He said that would be the end of it, but have a follow up next week just so he can check it. He wasn't worried by it at all.

Don't want to freak you out, just telling you my experience. Also, I am waiting for a total hysterectomy, which my dermatologist knows about, and didn't say anything about it being related.

Just get your mum checked by the doctor though rather than leaving it as the longer you leave it your both just going to worry more. Good luck and make that appointment.

      Take care

Angie thankyou for your reply . She is visiting gp tomorrow anyway . It just looks like pigment of the skin .

P.s mum was out the next day after total hysterectomy and was much better than I thought she would've been under circumstances. So don't worry too much about operation you'll be fine

Hi Angie thankyou so much for enquiring, the procedure went well and my mum went away to see my sister in the USA within a few weeks, when she came back she went to see gyno (about 2 weeks ago) who said everything was fine but there was one biopsy they weren't sure about and have sent to another hospital for a second opinion, she was told that her case was closed and if there was anything to say they would get in contact, then about a week ago she recieved a letter giving her am appointment in 3 weeks to see gyno. So don't know what they have found 3 months later from the 2nd opinion. Thank you Jim

      Hi Jim

At least they are looking after her. I'm sure if it was anything bad they wouldn't leave it for 3 more weeks. Did your mum mention anything about that brown patch on her face at all?

As far as the patch on face goes she's been to GP who has referred her to dermatologist, she is also going to mention it to gyno when she goes in March . I think we've considered it the way you said it , if it was anything bad they wouldn't have left it for 3 weeks. Angie thankyou for asking . Take care . Jim X

      Hi Jim

Just thought I'd let you know that it went well yesterday! Yeay! Pre cancer cells have gone! I also learnt the brown patch had formed due to sun damage from years ago. So if you have any young people in your family that think they are invincible (like they all think) tell them they have to take care in the sun and always wear sun cream. I was lucky, but could have been so different.

Please keep.in touch about your mum and if you have any questions don't hesitate.

Take care both of you. X

Hi Angie I'm pleased it all went well for you, there is a lot of anxiety waiting for the results . Well now you're clear to get on with the rest of you life rather than being in limbo . Must be a weight of your mind.

I will let you know about mum. Once again thanks for keeping in contact and updated . Jim X
