Calm my nerves about EGD EUS?

I am due to have an upper endoscopy with endoscopic ultrasound soon and I'm scared to death that this could trigger a pancreatic attack.  I have had several small attacks of pain (I say small because I didn't go to the hospital, but I was on the floor in agony, heart racing until I took 3-4 Ibprofin and it calmed a bit).  I've never smoked, never drank, and I'm eating very, very low fat and taking digestive enzymes.  I am also still waiting on a diagnosis because all imaging came back normal, but my lipase and amylase are high and my trypsinogen came back high (120).  I've no doubt I have pancreatitis, but if this is just an extended acute attack or chronic, and what is the cause I don't know.  It may be genetic, my aunt has double allele mutations for some of the genes associated with chronic pancreatitis.  I also have a fear of MEN1 because I have already had two parathyroid tumors removed, and I have a cousin who had a pituitary tumor as a young adult (MEN1 attacks the endocrine system, including parathyroid, pituitary gland and pancreas).  I know I need this procedure done, so see for sure what's going on, why I have constant burning in upper abdomen and these attacks, and to make sure there are no tumors growing on my pancreas, but I am scared to death.  I overheard a dr at the clinic on the phone with a woman who was in the hospital after this procedure because he removed a stone, and it triggered a pancreatic attack.  I've read too that these procedures can damage the pancreas further, depending on what the dr is doing.  Can anyone reassure me, let me know how yours went?  I don't want to make things worse for myself, but I'm a 35 yr old mom, and if there is any possibility of tumors or cancer, or even serious damage that could be deadly if ignored, I need to know so that I can deal with it and be there for my kids.  I can't not have this done, though I'm dreading it!

Hey Kristina, an EUS is not dangerous at all, the proceudre that damages the pancreas and causes attacks is called and ERCP. What ever you do, do not allow them to do this to you. An ERCP is how they remove stones. DO not let them do this to you. But and EUS is fine as long as they dont biopsy. DO they want to biopsy. Im having a biopsy done to prove pancreatitis but Drs are sure I have it from bloods. Scans are useless for this disease. Even my EUS was clear. Still have the disease though.

Thanks for the info!  I don't think dr plans on a biopsy unless she finds something.  Yes I've had CT scans and MRI showing nothing, and then a nurse will call and say, "You do NOT have pancreatitis."  Really?  Then why is my trypsinogen so high?  I get so frustrated.
