can a calprotection test be wrong

    i think any test could have "wrong" results. Do you not believe the result or think its incorrect? calprotectin measures the protein levels in the stool. but alone it really doesn't seem to mean much. My daughters first result was 900, second 2000 but they said as blood was present that could give a false result as blood increases the protein levels. our last test during a non bleeding / mucus period was 496.

    Just went through this myself. Here is what several drs. said to me: There can definitely be false positives and false negatives regarding this test. There must be other markers on blood tests that indicate inflammation in the body as well as the calprotectin test to be truly indicative of an inflammatory disease such as IBD or cancer to warrant further investigation.
