Can a blood test find MS?

Posted , 2 users are following.

I went to the doctor yesterday because of some pain in my body and intermittent tingling and stiffness in my arms and legs. He thinks it could be a vitamin B and D deficiency, but he's also testing for autoimmune issues. While testing for autoimmune issues, if I have MS or not, will the blood test indicate that?

Just to clarify, I recently had surgery to remove my gallbladder and I went to make sure I wasn't developing blood clots or other post-surgery issues.

No they cannot tell by blood tests, would be wonderful if they could. Some will only diagnose after lumbar puncture and MRI, some MRI and evoked potentials. If you don't know these terms :MRI magnetic resonance imaging ..you go in a machine its nousy but nkt painful. Lumbar Puncture is drawing soubal fluid by a needle from your spine. Evoked potentials can be done more than one way. mine was glued electrodes to various parts of my body and then measuring response electrically, mum had one with thin needles into her. Both are not that painful unless like me you have a problem with a limb. Strange that you mention having gallbladder out as my friend had similar symptoms after hets and saw a neurologist but he dismissed it as her age ! Good Luck I hope you get answers soon and please try not to be scared πŸ’Ÿ

What happened to your friend? Did the symptoms go away, or did she find something out after? I am only 22, and doctors keep dismissing me because of my age.

Well sges my mum in laws friend actually and she's only just been told. My cousin who is more your age 19 has vitamin B12 deficiency and yes that gives tingle and numbness. Don't fret they can give you but B12. Other things less serious can cause these symptoms, your blood test wint take long just focus on that and cone back. Um sorry if I was blunt, I'm not normally. Look at your diet it may give some clues. We (as humans,) always think the worst because we fret. Ms isn't a death sentence but chances are you don't have it. Kindest regards 🌹🌹

Oh I know it isn't. My grandmother had it, and while she was daignosed in the early 70s, she still had a great life - even in a wheelchair. I have a friend who has it, and a cousin, and they are both doing fine. I won't be upset if it is MS because I know how much better treatment has become. I just wanted to know if this kind of autoimmune disease might be found in a blood test.

Not MS no but I don't know if your blood test will show you have an immune disorder. Cone back and let us know in the meantime don't have any sweetners called aspartame, asulfame phenylalanine. They can inflame your brain. 🌸🌼
