Can a peserie used to treat rectocele be the cause of back and leg pain

I have a rectocele and the doc inserted a peserie. Even before this was fitted I'd wake several times with back and abdominal pain which would go after using the toilet, but since I've had this fitted the pain seems more severe and the pain is in my legs as well and the pain doesn't seem to go from my legs is it caused by the peserie

It's more likely to be from your back, and is made worse by the rectocele.

You need to go back and see your Dr, find out if having it removed will help you.

Thank you I'm thinking of telling them I want the op as I don't think the peserie is helping in fact I seem to have more to deal with

If you can remove it easily yourself, take it out if it's causing problems.

Do you think it has heped you with the rectocele symptoms or not?

Are you having problems with bm's, more than you did without?

I'm guessing you're bleeding from your rectum, if so you may need to take some kind of stool softeners.

I think most can be removed yourself if not maybe go to urgent care or ER to have them remove it. Sounds like you are very uncomfortable 😢

What type of pessary do you have? You can remove a ring pessary fairly easily.

Yes it's a ring only all I seem to have is either back, leg, or abdominal

pain and now I'm bleeding when I use the toilet

I was bleeding from the vagina as well and didn't really help with bm's. thanks everyone for your advice I have now removed it and the bleeding is stopping. The ring was blood stained , so glad it's out no leg or ab pain so far so good :-) . Back to using my fingers to push on the wall of my vagina to assist bm I'm 52 and think I'd rather go for the op now rather than wait and it gets worse can i insist that they do it cause the doctor didnt seem to want to do it. Do you think I'm making the right decision

Yes if the pessary caused problems that's the next step. Why doesn't doc want to do op? Are you seeing a urogynecogist? If not please make an appt with one

I tried the pessary as well and it did not help at all, and it made my lower back pain worse, so I removed it myself after 3-4 days.   I feel like maybe it's really only for mild cases or when rectocele/cystocele problems are caught early.   Anyhow, when I found it didn't help that's when I decided to move forward with surgery.  I'm 6 days post op now and although recovery is not fun, I think I made the right decision.
