Can a prolapsed disc push cartliage under rib cage?

Hi all

I have had a prolapsed L5 since i was 20, the last two weeks I have found 2 lumps on the left hand sid at the back just under the rib cage. My gp thinks it is cartliage, but I am having an ultra sound scan next Wednesday to investigate what it is. The last 4 days I have had what seems like sciatica, so I am wondering could the prolapsed disc have slipped out some more or indeed pushed out some cartliage? This is what I am hoping the lumps turn out to be lol

Thanks in advnace for your time in reading this and hopefully answering

Hey Karen, relax and stop prodding yourself. We all have lumps everywhere, especially in and around the rib-cage, it's most probably cartilage or even ligament. There's loads of stuff around there so don't worry, i hope all goes well for you.
