Can Addison's Disease symptoms come and go?

Posted , 5 users are following.

Just to make this short because I don't feel the greatest right now I'd like to get the opinion of someone diagnosed with Addison's on this. Is it possible for the symptoms to come and go or are they just there permanently until you start getting treatment? Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thank you

In short, yes. There are two types of adrenal insufficiency. Primary (Addison's) and secondary. Symptoms can come and go as your adrenals stop functioning over time. Only in rare cases does something catastrophic happen and they quit all at once.

To add to the response you've received, your body gets low on cortisol. One afternoon it may be very low causing many symptoms but that morning, your body wasn't low at all so your symptoms were non-existing.
