Can an ear infection cause you to feel spaced out?

Just wondering as I’ve been feeling like this for over a month now. I had a build up of wax and had my ears flushed but behind it all I had an infection. I’ve got drops for it but still feeling dizzy. Just wondering if this is due to inflammation and how long this can last?

Yes it can. I am dealing with a similar problem. I've had lightheadedness/dizziness for over a month and an ENT told me I have a sinus infection, which I was unaware of. I am taking antibiotics and have been feeling better recently.

Your sense of balance comes from your inner ear so if you have an infection that can definitely throw it off.

Thank goodness. I hope it clears for both of us! I feel more spaced out than dizzy and it’s worse if I’m walking for long periods

Don't know why some docs flush your ears out. Can make your problem way worse. Did it to me before. A good ENT will duck that stuff out. Had a student doc flush my ear out once. She blew out my ear drum and pumped water into my inner ear. Got the worst ear infection of my life.

The fact is the nurse told me my ear was fine and didn’t notice the infection when I could notice it by looking in my own ear. Crazy

The vac they use to suck that out is small as a needle.
