I have had cervical spondylosis since 1999 and in general I've managed no time of work or medication I had an incident at work in which I had injured my neck and the pain was horrendous I can not carry bags or lift or reach for anything anymore this was 2 years ago and I have not improved I have tried to cluam for industrial injury benefit and they have refused as it was a pre condition does anyone know if by jerked my head that caused severe pain this can exasperated my spondylosis as previously it was manageable I would be very grateful for any information

    Hi,

I think I know exactly what is wrong with you, I had exact circumstances as you but it took 13 months X rays, mris and ct scans to diagnose.

If you injure your cervical spine, neck, then it tries to repair itself. It begins building bone spurs, osteopytes. Normally this is on the exterior of the vertebrae. But, sometimes they grow inside the spinal canal. This is not normally a problem until you damage the neck further.

What can happen then is the spinal canal can move causing the bone spurs to impinge on the spinal cord itself. This then leads to all sorts of problems eventually causing problems to arms, legs , bladder and bowl.

You need to see a neurologist through your GP. Probably have cervical stenosis/spondylosis with foramen al narrowing.

    Best of luck,

    Mike.
