can anxiety cause depression?

I have anxiety, and I just feel so low all the time, and very angry! When I'm upset I get so angry that I just wanna trash my room ( I don't do it) but I just get this overwhelming feeling that nothing is gonna get better, it's horrible just wondering if anxiety causes this?

Honey Anxiety n depression are BFFS!! I'd already had depression for years but when anxiety hit it all got worse. When the two meet they screw you over good. They love each other's company.

    Hi Sweet

Ive had depression for 16 years the anxiety only started 4 months ago and YES

I feel like shouting and throwing things because it is so frustrating.

There is rhyme or reason to it just when you think you have got rid one symptom another comes along.

I know how you feel and so do most of the people on this forums.

    Stay strong ma darlingbiggrin

I agree. I've been depressed for twelve years but anxiety came three months ago. I did my research and apparently when one suffers from depression it's very likely they'll get anxiety at some point as well. When one suffers from anxiety it's almost impossible to avoid getting depression too. So like I said, the two are bffs.

I know it sucks,I suppose I kinda got away with it for 16 years so I should be grateful, but Im not.

I thought being hospitalised 3 thimes for my depression was my all time low but no anxiety tops the lot.

Omg I also thought depression was as bad as it could get. Anxiety is still proving me wrong. As based as this sounds I'd go back to simply being depressed if I could.

Anxiety and depression are two sides of the same coin, one doesn't exist without the other

Well my depression existed for 16 years before anxiety reared its ugly head!

It's the same condition, it just presents differently. Essentially if your treated for anxiety or depression by a therapist, they will always treat the depression, the anxiety is more of a byproduct. For me anxiety is always worse, but I know depression is the underlying problem, it just presents as anxiety

I have read many of your posts and i think obtaining a really good therapist would be most helpful for you. You need better guidance and some tools to get a handle on all that is occuring inside of you. They have medicine too if needed.

yeah i used to be like that too.

    how are you feeling now?

I feel bit different about it I guess. I don't feel depressed I do at times get fed up with feeling anxious and Bit down but it's the anxiety symptoms I hate.I never really understand why I am anxious I have no need tobe. ..... After thirty years you would think I would understand ot totally by now. Confused

Have you spent any meaningful time in therapy? If not then its unsurprising that you don't understand your Anxiety
