Can anxiety cause your ears to ring?

I've been dealing with my ears ringing or making static sounds and it's been so annoying to deal with. Is this a common anxiety symptom? And if so, is there a way to get rid of it? I suffer from bad health anxiety and generalized anxiety disorder for many years now and I feel like it's getting worst for me. I can't sleep right now and I'm so worried on whats been going on with my right ear for weeks now. I do suffer from ear wax build up a lot. Its always the right ear for me that mostly ends up closing sometimes, my ear has been been blocked where the sounds are muffled for me and I'm also experiencing a bit of ear pain that's giving me a panic attack and I tried putting ear drops, but it didn't fix the problem, planning to make an appointment tomorrow to schedule with my ENT to get my ear checked and find out why.

ringing in the ear is very common with long-term anxiety. I’ve had it for many years. It could also be caused by other things that are not serious. I just had to get used to having it because I nothing has been able to get rid of it. But for you, go to your ENT appointment and they will most likely give you a hearing test and go from there. in the meantime don’t put anything into your ear. just see what the doctor says.

I have had Tinnitus for 25 years now, I found some relief in eventually finding out why I had it. In my case it was damage across the frequency's due to bout of German measles, when I was young.

I think you will have to identify the issue and get tested if you have any hearing damage, you can have Tinnitus without hearing damage, but first you need to eliminate other causes.

I know it's easy to say, but you have to first start by realizing the noise is not a threat, it's common the more you concentrate on it, the louder it will appear and then the more anxiety it creates.

Though, first see if there is anything causing it, it might be fixable in your case, then once you know you can take the next if relevant steps.

    Good luck
