Can anxiety/ high stress cause indigestion?

Posted , 6 users are following.

Since a couple days I’ve been having indigestion. I also have severe anxiety and stress the last months.. could it be from that? I am an extrem hypochondriac and now I’m telling myself it could be stomach cancer. Like right now I’m shaking and crying and have breathing problems because I’m so afraid it could be cancer...

Anxiety sucks butt u can have a million symptoms and think it's something when it scares not.. I had really bad stomach issues also I swear I thought I had a uti,a kidney infection, appendicitis, and pancreatitis I had none of them. But the stomach pains and symptoms made me think other wise. I swear I had every symptom of kidney infection and after the dr cleared it my symptoms went away swear I had appendicitis until the dr cleared that too it's all in your mind what ever u think you have your brain can trick you into having the symptoms to that sickness.. just relax and tell your self it's just anxiety I can get through this

Thank you so much for your answer. It’s just because these symptoms are so extreme. It just scares me. My family lives in Germany and my husband is deployed so I’m alone 99% of the time. It does not make it better

Please reach out to someone. Are there any support groups for the partners of those with deployed loved ones? Also talk to your family back in Germany about how you are feeling. Maybe also research local services for mental health issues. I’m sure there must be helplines like we have in the UK. Don’t suffer this alone, there are caring people in this world who I’m sure would be willing to support you. Hope you feel better soon and keep posting, it helps to write it all down too x

My Dad has PTSD from Vietnam, and I have dealt with anxiety attacks and stress off and on for years. A Dr. told Dad many years ago (paraphrasing) When you have anxiety or stress ;A person will swallow more, and more, and this increase in swallowing, takes in more air into your body, and I always have more gas when I have anxiety, and it almost always goes to my left chest area. It took many doctors, and awful stress tests and numerous attacks to finally figure out it was stress and I wasn't having a coronary. I am not a Dr.,but I am 45 y.o and have dealt with this for at least 15 years if not more.

    Amen!

so there is this annoying Vagus Nerve ...

I illustrated this week. If you were put in front of a room randomly to give a presentation. Normally we sweat, getting upset stomach, have to go to the bathroom etc.

there’s obviously nothing wrong with us, it’s just nerves. Well that particular nerve runs all through out the brain to the stomach.  Anxiety crates that fight or flight, and causes all havoc on the body and various ways.

Anxiety causes lots of physical symptoms... your stomach will bother you a lot during high stress and anxiety periods. Mine right now is a mess. Hopefully you can talk to someone and relax some.

I have this discomfort now since at least a weak and u start thinking it could come from my heart tbh! Like when I take a deep breath sometimes my chest hurts and nothing auch as peptide bismol helps. Also I feel so extreme dizzy and fatigue all the time. And I have pinching pains every where in my body. It’s just weird. Right now I’m literally on the edge to go to the ER

I’m now a firm believer in full blood analysis and hair analysis...

Doctors treat symptoms and you’ll just end up on Prozac 😡

if your intercostal Muscles hurt ... it’s either 100% stress and anxiety if in both sides... or Galbladder. if you press firmly for a few on right side just under the riv and feel relief ... pos gallbladder.

if you press between ribs and feel like sharp glass,  Anxiety 🤕
