Can anxiety kill me ?!
Posted , 6 users are following.
I have panic attacks from thinking of death young -I'm 25-. Whenever that fear comes, I try to fight it as it's just a fear but not a true feeling but sometimes I'm afraid it's a sign from god that I'm going to die soon. This thinking drives me crazy that I can't do anything in my day. I don't know why do I have this fear.
How can I overcome this and this fear?

Hey, trying to fight it is your problem. Don't try to fight it, let the thoughts and feelings just be there and ride them out. Anxiety and panic attacks are uncomfortable but NOT dangerous. You are not looking to 'get rid' of the thoughts, you are trying to be comfortable with their presence. They will then eventually fade away on their own. Hope you feel better soon

As Georgina says the problem is we fight against these horrible feelings. Try to train the brain to accept them. Easier said than done. I still haven't managed to accept them after years of this. I've never tried therapy to deal with this but a lot of people on this site swear by it. I'm going to try to so hopefully my brain can be reset

Hi the title of your message is can anxiety kill me, the simple answer is no it can't, anxiety is our bodies defence mechanism and its sole purpose is to keep us alive so you can turn those thoughts on their head and say it's a sign that you are to live.
Dont fight with your anxiety as others have said it's uncomfortable, frightening etc but not dangerous, challenge irrational thoughts if you can but do try not to ruminate over them, allow them to be abd fade away. Keep posting as plenty support for you here.

Any symptom related to anxiety cannot hurt you. But if you continue to get anxious you will continue to panic and that feels horrible.
You need to take charge of this or fear and panic will control your life!
you are allowing "what if "thinking to take you over and you don't have to. Fearful thinking is fear about the future which does not exist yet. It's only a concept right now. You need to live in the present moment.
your mind has made up "a sign from God that you're going to die soon". That is not based on fact or reality. What it is is negative thinking that is taking over. We are not our thoughts.
We have fleeting thoughts all day long they come and they go. When you get a negative thought here's what you need to do:
observe that thought for a few seconds. Calmly acknowledge it. Then watch it and imagine it floating off and dissolving. This way you do not give it POWER over you. You accept it and observe it and then let it go. Do this every single time you get the scary or negative thoughts.
tell yourself this is only a fleeting thought that's not based on fact.
but right now you were choosing to let negativity run your life. That's why you panic.
The fact is, yes we are all going to die one day. Once you accept that you will actually feel more calm and have peace of mind. The more you fight it the worse you will feel anxiety. The odds are you will have a nice long life.
Every Day you worry like this you have lost a day from your life. I did this for 20 years and I cannot get back one day and I really REGRET it!!
Now I enjoyed every single day of my life. I appreciate everything I have. I enjoy my family and friends. I don't know when the Lord will take me, nobody does but worrying and panicking about it is just ruining what could be a beautiful life. You are so young and have so many years. You will definitely regret it if you waste years of your life with useless worry. If there's nothing we can do about how long we live just remember worrying about it does not add one day to your life. In fact it subtracts days.
go to YouTube and look up topics such as anxiety or how can I enjoy life whatever you want. There are some great information in there.
Enjoy life! 🌸🌸🌸

Really thank you jan for your help. Whenever a panic comes I convince myself that this is not true but it keeps me me unbalanced, dizzy and lightheaded that I can't think of positive things to distract me from these thoughts.

When the panic comes, try not to fight it off because things in symptoms will get worse. That's when you need to calmly acknowledge that you have the feeling of panic.
In a relaxed manner tell yourself " I am OK. I can handle this and this will pass."
then go right to focusing on your breathing because this will keep your mind on something and keep you in the present moment.
no matter what symptoms you're having, take a nice slow deep breath through your nose for about five seconds. Then exhale through your mouth like you're blowing out a candle. Focus completely on what the air feels like coming in and going out. Is it warm? Is it cool? What does it sound like? Repeat this several times. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring it back to focusing on your breathing.
if you'd like to hear this in audio form, it's on YouTube.
Search for " mindful breathing Guided meditation 10 minutes"
you can also search for panic attack meditations on YouTube. Many of them guide you through the panic attack.
There is one called panic attack emergency.
I think these meditations could help you a lot!
you're also meditations on YouTube for anxiety, depression, sleep, etc.
you will be fine once you get this managed a little bit. 😁??

When I was in my teens and twenties I was the same, I would worry that the Lord would take me before I reached twenty one, then thirty, forty, fifty etc etc. Now I am sixty seven and now I still wonder if I will see my three score years and ten (70 years)
We cannot do anything about the time we will be called to the Golden Gates to find if we have been granted access to heaven and see those who have loved us and us them.
Let us be honest we never know when we will be called, that is out of our hands and when we die, we die and have no way of preventing it, so why worry ?. We all will be called, whatever and it is pointless to consider what we will die from. When it comes to death everyone, and animals will have that final journey to undertake and all there is to look forward to is heaven where people and our dead pets are awaiting our arrival. I wonder if we will be allowed to have a party with all who past earlier.
Try and look upon that journey as a great big family party where everyone is fit and have had all their illnesses and disabilities taken away from them. I long to see my old Terrier Pip and I wonder if He will get on with Pax when He is called
We cannot do anything about our deaths, we need to accept the inevitable and move on, You have the chance on this world to enjoy your life and be happy, enjoy. Death is the Final Adventure that is lives biggest secret Death.
Stop Worrying
