Ive been on Mitazapine 45mg for years kept my depression at bay, since December for the first time I started having anxiety attacks and they are really flooring me, since joining this forum Ive learned that my symptoms are classic anxiety.  Went to my gp today, she suggested changing to sertraline, but Id have to slowly come off Mitazapine first!!!!????

It took me so long to get the right anti D I mean Im taking years so now I am torn do I try and ride out this anxiety or do I chance changing Meds and my depression coming back with a vengance.!!!

Any thoughts peeps.?

Sertraline is for depression (and anxiety) as well so normally they will just replace one with another.  Now, you have been with this medication for years so I suggest you give her a calll.  Who put you on Mitazapine?  Maybe give them a call.

think Both are for depression. I take Paxil for depression and Buspar for anxiety. Did your dr say you would have to stop the  Mitazapine?question

It was a psychiatrist that put me on Metazapine about 5 years ago but I tried everything under the sun for my depression and metaz was the only thing that worked.  The Gp today says I will have to ween my self off Metaz to 15mg then start the other one.

She also scared me a bit by saying my bloods for liver function were up, I have never drank alcohol in my life, thats what I relate to the liver maybe Im wrong, but she got me all in a flap!!!!

Some medications can do that to your liver so you need to wean off and take something else.  Now, I would call your psychiatrist and have him give you instructions.  Gp's are not good with this and now that you have to get off your first medication is important that you see him frequently until you feel better.   I hate medications but sometimes you have no option. ;-(
